kase, kasers, (haha) didn't your results give you the percentile you fit into?

look, i'm sure they did, and that'll tell you how good 1430 is!
i don't remember...cause i took mine 9 years ago :o

I didn't take the SATs. I think 1600 is the highset you can get. If that's the case, then yeah I think a 1430 would be pretty good.

Well the American average is supposedly 1026 according to wikipedia. And above 1250 used to get you into mensa. So I suppose thats good....still sounds like a stupid system to me. Here you get graded on a percentile basis, according to your scores in each subject. You add the individual subject scores up to get a total study score then they measure you against the rest of the state to rank you. For instance if you got 99.4, you would be in the top .6% of the state. At least thats how it works in my state.

Yeah, I think. Like I said, I didn't take it and it's been a few years since I was in high school so the little knowledge I already had on the subject is now gone.

i find it hard to believe that you have no idea of the grading scale for the SAT.

I just took 700 points off your score for even asking.

well, did you take the new test? the one worth 2400 hundred maximum points? Because the scores for that one came out just recently. If it were the 2400 SATs, then 1430 isn't so great.

You know, when I first read this I thought "No, that can't be true." So I looked it up and lo and behold, it is, to my surprise. Which makes me wonder why I had to bother with that CMOM and the Stanford-Binet.

Same here.

They must have given you some sort of indication.

Unless... you just posted it to show off your score ;)

Word. He is just trying to brag.

tool/But street game is so uncouth/I took the SAT's and that's the Sad

the scoring system has been adjusted in the past 10 years though...
by roughly 200+ points...or so i heard.

he would have scored 1230 back when i was in highschool....

Hector_Sancho
06-28-2005, 11:29 AM
Well does anyone know what the average score is? And Mr. Films, I honestly didn't know and none of my friends knew so I thought I'd ask you guys.

For the new 2400 point SAT, the average is 1200. (I think)

Do a god damn internet search instead of a badly veiled attempt at bragging.

For the new 2400 point SAT, the average is 1200. (I think)

that seems low. not that i'm calling you a liar, i haven't looked it up, it just seems low. if it were out of 100, that would be a 50.

if the average was 1000 something for the 1600 scale, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that the average for the 2400 scale is proportional? so that would make it...i don't know, i'm bad at math. 1500 or so, right?

of course, that's assuming it's the same proportion...the new section is writing, isn't it? that could bring the average down.

i got a 1410 on the SAT's, when they were out of 1600 (yes, i'm bragging, i feel i've earned it). I'm still not sure how. i'm awful at math.

so you need to tell us what the maximum score is. was there a writing section? if so, it's out of 2400 and it's not so good. if not, it's probably still 1600, and it's spectacular.

Wait, aren't SATs like big exams over there? Aren't those the ones you do when you finish high school, like really important?

Yeah, strikes me that you're bragging, I dunno. If they are important wouldn't there be a big hype involving "OMGzzz what did yoooou get?" with your classsmates?

Los Para Noias
06-28-2005, 05:21 PM
Yeah, I know what you're saying about it being a bit low, I thought that way myself, so it might be 1400-1600, I really don't know.

(I got 2070, which I'm glad I can brag about, although my writing was only 620)

If you're 1430 is out of 1600, you may be doomed to a life where you've already peaked. :(
