Ridiculous name, isn't it?

Wouldn't it be ironic if the workers in it were held hostage by terrorists, thus making the "Freedom Tower" a "confinement tower" ?

Yeah....Big Bush would be better, only with a digital clock at the top

I expect it is a terrorist magnet, designed solely with the purpose of concentrating terrorist attention, allowing the right-wing to perpetuate the myth that the US is going to be attacked from here until eternity unless (and regardless if) you all surrender you rights and wills. And hell, they might actually catch some proper terrorists by having such a nice fly-trap, thus improving presidential popularity and giving Bush's administration something real to spin out of all recognition.

Will they be giving out freedom at the freedom tower, or will it cost money?

That is easily the best thing you have said ever.

It is a silly name, but I quite like the design actually. I'm looking forward to seeing it on the skyline.

I can't help but wonder how they would cause this one to collapse what with the "most secure building ever designed" stuff.

Freedom isn't free - God bless the USA.

'Freedom Tower' is indeed super lame. Why not just call it 'big gay building'.
There are waaaayyy too many cooks in this kitchen for this design to be remotely distinctive or inspired. Sadly, there have been many great proposals that were never given the time of day due to the fact that they challenge the vernacular on what a 'skyscraper' or dare I say 'freedom tower' should look like. Bottom line is this thing is not going to please everyone nor will it be cost effective or timely. It means way too much to way too many. I fear for the outcome. Yet hope for the best.

Put me down as one of those guys who thinks the original towers should have been rebuilt... maybe even with a sign painted on the side that says "Try that again, motherfucker!"
Nothing says I will endure and I will persevere more than picking up where you left off and starting on your way again, resolve that will not let itself be defeated... like the fight scene in "Cool Hand Luke."

Will they serve Freedom Fries there, too?
I think, regardless of the name, building on that site is important for the American (and world's?) psyche. But, more important is actually doing something to try and prevent terrorists from blowing up things again. Which is hard when we're fighting a war in Iraq.
