They're defending it saying, "It's not offensive, it's like the Speedy Gonzales cartoons." Yeah, but Slow Poke Rodriguez was offensive, right?
Next the French will be offended by Pepe Le Pew.

Wait so Jesse Jackson thinks the US should be giving other nations advice on race relations??!! Does anyone else find that hilariously ironic?

they latinos here freaked out about the SDSU mascot, Monty Montezuma. see here. (http://www.alpineglass.com/showcase/images/glass%20panels/aztecs.jpg)
I never had a problem with it.
I know a lot of latinos that complain about this image as well: here (http://i14.ebayimg.com/03/i/04/1b/1b/22_1_b.JPG)
maybe it's just that I don't know the details of why these things are offensive, but yeah, I don't have a problem with that either?
I think if these images have been used to ridicule or belittle a particular ethnicity, it's not cool.

I understand where you are coming from as far as not being offended by those images, Crystal, but the thing that sets it off for African Americans is the whole big lipped (which is a natural feature among us, but these ignorant cartoons exaggerate it way too much) wide eyed, shuffling down the street Negro who is quite content with his lot in life being at the bottom rung of the ladder.
I read about these stamps in the paper this morning and was quite pissed to say the least. Thank God we have the great Reverend Jesse Jackson to come to our "rescue".
Like we don't have enough fucking problems already.

For the longest time, I thought Jesse Jackson was the New York Yankee. Imagine my surprise when I remembered that's Reggie.
