View Full Version : Was Wutang Forever a flop?

what do yall think?

It got some of their best songs ever recorded (its yourz, as high as wutang get, bells of war, duck seazon, etc.) but it also has some garbage tracks (namely black shampoo). i dont think its a flop though and at least it sounds different from any other record they made for the sake of experimentation and artist growth. i like it.

sales wise? no, 90% of the people on this board wouldnt know who wu tang is if it wasnt for forever.

music wise? ehh nah, but it should have been a single disc. quite a bit of filler.

you'll find this funny, but I kind of like the intro on Forever, almost always listen to it. I find it pretty interesting, and the music isn't that bad, but that's just me. The intro on Liquid Swords is horrible, and unfortunately it's on the same track as the fist song.

As for the Forever double CD, it's pretty tight. There is a lot of filler, but quality tracks on both discs. Enter the 36 chambers is better. Wu-Tang is one of my favorite groups ever. I still remember when "Protect Ya Neck" and then "Method Man" came out; when the last song hit the streets it was the freaking bomb. I mean they were playing it everywhere!

forever was kinda weird to me, 36 chambers was just too good for a first record, no band could top an initial release like that one.
