...you know how you go back to an album and you fall in love with it all over again?...i cant get over how incredible this album is, its ridiculous. first of all, i cant get over how incredible Muse is altogether and probably never will. OOS is for the moment, my all time...all time. its amazing the way they make two opposite types of sounds blend in together so perfectly, hard guitars and classically inspired melodies...cmon now! come on now.

that harp like sound in Bliss

and in Citizen Erased- how perfectly can heavy guitars go together with soft melodic parts like that? how, thats how. and then just about one of the most perfect endings ever. its like you feel like clapping, getting up and leaving the theater when it finishes, i dont know, yea, its theatrical, how it builds and smoothes down like that. "wash me away..."

microcuts, the guitar in Plug In Baby should be in a history book (i bet they made it out on the piano first, doesnt it sound classical?), space dementia with the piano? HA its like shut up, no seriously, shut up, toooo much

those being the best songs for me, the others dont stay too behind at all, um yea, im hoping the beastie board has some Muse fans and if not, you should be aware of what youre missing.

Though I'm not really a fan of Muse, I wouldn't say that 'Origin Of Symmetry' was their best.

'Showbiz' was sharp.

Oh I so agree, Its just a perfect album and was only their second album, which is remarkable. Also its been a long time since I listened to that album and this post has got me to listening to it all again. Although I have all their other albums I still think this is by far their best just every song has something interesting about it. Citizen Erased just send chills down by spine and i totaly agree with what you said about the beautiful ending to that song; I like their music for the same reason that I like the Smashing Pumpkins with the harmony between soft and loud music.

To the yanks that know "Muse" - I knew them before they were famous. Not musically, I thought they stank then, and still do, but personally. They come from the same city I went to college at, and many of my casual aquaintances and friends knew them personally, etc. Indeed, the Fizgig and Firkin (now somewhere else) was a place they played as amateurs, and they were inferior to some of the other bands that played opposite to them.

Apparently, according to people who would know, I knew them personally too. But, being a drunk and deprivate, I am beyond recollecting them any more than the other faceless peons I meet out whilst drinking.

Let this be a warning to you, the next generic talentless punk garage band you disregard might end up becoming famous too.

uh, not all my players are on the team today so everything isnt really getting through to me at the moment...i do agree that it is morally corrupt to talk like that about Muse though

All I want is corruption.

Bonus points to anyone who gets that lyric. Points deducted for anyone who likes the group that used that lyric.

Showbiz was the only Muse album I thought came anywhere near being a good album.

The others have some fantastic songs between them but contain 80% filler.

it's a good record, i was probably a bigger fan of muse back around 2001, to me the moments after that album and the tour that followed (as well as some of the new songs played at reading 2002) was the best period for Muse.

I found over time with that album I would really get into a particualr track one by one, initially it was songs like New Born and Hyper Music, then Space Dementia and Micro Cuts, and i had a spell where I thought Megalomaniac was the best song recorded.

And the cool thing with that record was that it blew away those fucking Radiohead comments form every critic in the buisness.

haha...you see? why does this happen with Muse? noone "likes" Muse, you "adore" them. and i love your description of how you get into one specific track at a time...i guess its cuz each track is so complete and is usually made up of so many different parts, that it feels like a whole mini album.

Megalomania could very likely be within one of the bests songs recorded, and if its not, one Muse song definetly qualifies for that anyway. well i mean these guys have studied classical music and its tecnique, its not like theyre just trusting theyre musical instincts, theyre specialized musicians, now lets count how many major selling bands we can say that about.

And the thing is you cant just casually listen to their albums, its like you have to sort of concentrate and work with it to fully get something from them, you have to pay attention or it feels like something so valuable is being slipped under the rug...i dont know...it would feel wrong to put on a Muse album to be the background of a conversation with drinks at a chill party.

i love the excesiveness in Muse, how more than an album its an experience, and the way you have to turn yourself in to it emotionally cuz of how they soak it in minor notes...and i didnt even mention Absolution yet.
