Tibet and Africa are in need of equal attention. Maybe if they showed up to Live 8, they would gain even more support for the Tibetan Freedom concerts. Then again, I don't know the whole story, were they invited? Is there something else going on? I know Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead didn't make it because his wife just had a baby. Either way, what's up?

Yeah, Live 8 seems like something the Beasties would really push for. It's really disappointing to me that their not performing. This is the greatest music event of all time and it has a phenomenal cause, i don't see why you wouldn't want to take part in it and help better our world

I agree with you guys!! It's a shame they weren't playing?!! but U2 & Madonna were just amazing!! & a great line up too here in the UK, but it would of been better if the Beastie's played! So why did they not play???? Admin you have to give us an answer to why??? or better still it's about time "Yauch" came back on here!!!! come on Yauch, Where have ya been?

Maybe it's because they figured it's a huge waste of time centring on dubious ways to lessen world poverty (dropping the debt). Or because they realise for such things to work, one needs an incredible amount of people to protest (more than 10,000), or a considerable crowd willing to take action.

In any case, they weren't the only notables who weren't there.

I think that if all the very rich movie stars (paris hilton, tom cruise...etc) just get together in california and give up a million dollars to africa each because it's pocket change to them, then the poverty would just end and it would be a lot quicker and easier.

I guess there heart isnt as big as yours! :p

Im sure they'll give to some charities, but your right...some organization with MORE celebrities from all forms of entertainment sounds like a good idea...especially the ones with absolutley no talent!! :)
