its 3 men in suits running around acting like little kids. its like a little kids show for adults. they went to the laundry room and started throwing around wet laundry and the guy that runs the apartments comes in and is like "hey you cant do that.. thats not even your laundry" and they're like "aww shucks, gee wilikers, this building is no fun" and make dumb faces and walk around and mope.

horrible.

Yeah, the only funny part of the premier was when they were running around and tidying up the apartment before the landlord came over, but all they did was fluff some pillows, one of which was stuffed in a kitchen cabinet.

Other than that, it was poop.

That sounds like what I did when watching The State. Except I laughed a lot meanwhile.

I haven't seen Stella yet...all of this is disappointing to hear. :(

every time i saw michael ian black on vh1 shows making funny little comments i thought he was kinda cute, but now that ive watched him act like a retard.... mmmmmm, no.

its almost like they tried to make something kind of like the young ones, only failed miserably.

you should watch a bit just to see how bad it is. it's really quite remarkable that they got enough people to think it was a good idea to actually make a show of it.

Ok then, I guess I am the only one here who absolutly loves this show and hopes it has a long running.....Alright, I can deal with that.

It is the only show on tv that has made me laugh out loud or in my head in a LONG time.

i'm with you. the absurdity makes it so damn funny.

i'm surprised any fan of the state wouldn't like it; it's brilliant.

Are you fucking retarded? Anyway, I haven't seen Stella yet. Probably won't either. North American sketch comedy died with Mr. Show, Kids in the Hall, and SCtv. Call me crazy, but I thought The State wasn't that great, and UCB sucked. Sounds like Stella's taking the same route, that's if it even is a sketch show.

^ Upright Citizens Brigade had some hilarious shit, but on the whole it was more miss than hit.

I loved the state but its probably not as funny anymore since I was an avid watcher at 14.

Mr Show takes a fairly specific sense of humor. I love it, but a lot of people just dont get it or dont find it funny.

But isn't that part of the attraction? Being set apart from the majority of asswipes that would rather watch Jimmy Fallon fuck up every sketch he's ever been on.......ever? I know exactly what you're sayin. I had tapes of Mr. Show back in the day and in college and the majority of people were like "wtf, this shit's dumb." I kinda took it as a compliment cuz it was then I knew that they were retarded.

See, that's funny. My favorite sketch ever is Mr. Show season 4 where high school metal head Dougie Bendel turns out to be the Dalai Lama. So many things going on. Has to deal with learning the way, his annoying friend coming to visit, the summer competition with the kids from the fat kids camp across the lake, and let's not forget the freestyle rap contest. GOLD.

I haven't been here for too long but hearing everybody's comments in Turd's threads sounds like they are comming from little kids. lol. Anyways I think Turd could make a better show than Stella by just posting more retarded topics or LMAO topics.lol. :)

Uh, thanks for your 2 and half cents. Maybe if you watched anything other than the first season, it would be different. And don't tell me you have cuz I can tell. You not quoting the fuck out of it, but I know, it sucks. Which leads me to rejoice that we differ on this from my previous statement.

Mr Show takes at least five or six episodes worth to appreciate.

the main issue with any comedy, and what always has and always will be, is timing. In stuff like Mr Show the timing is always dead on or jokes come as a complete suprise done in an element where it works as opposed to "suprise" elements that are just cheap gags.

Most people dont notice how horribly timed 90% of the jokes in Family Guy are, which is why I hate the fucking show.

oh, and Mr Show is better than Monty Python. Sorry.

Bob and David have always given mad props to the Monty Python crew, but yes they are better. It's natural progression. Python's been outmoded. I don't know about you, but I'd rather watch a hilarious sketch about pre-natal beauty pageants or TAINT magazine than some dude who bought a dead parrot. Don't get me wrong, Python's the shit, but there's better shit out there.

i don't know, i quite liked stella. i've been into it since before it was on TV though, maybe a full 30 minute episode is a bad way to be introduced to the style. it's a little funnier in shorter doses, with much less "YAAAAY"'ing going on every minute or so. it's just very random, i don't know, i like it.

I did watch it beyond the first season. Maybe I'd "quote the fuck out of it" if I found it funny, but I don't.

See, I knew you'd come around. Hey, wait a minute. You do like it or you don't like it?? I'm gonna have to do some research. Okay..................okay..................I see. Well, from the looks of the gazillion posts of yours stating that "it's not funny" and the thread you made about it being "not funny," my scientific conclusion is that you love it. CASE CLOSED.
