At this precise moment, I'm just being denied sleep by an infant.
In the larger scope of things, I'm making small adjusments to my long term goals by trying to make some more money happen, devoting a little more time to excercising and practicing doing hand stands.
Thanks for listening.

Weeeeell, currently I am in Boston just for some vacation time. It's nice, I was really starting to think the Northeast never had nice weather.
Come fall, I am moving here August 14th and going to school up here. I am really excited :) and yeah I'm sure everyone knows why.
I can't believe so few people wanted to talk about themselves. haha ;)
your turn!

Well, ya see, the reason so few people want to talk about their personal lives here, in this thread, is because they don't get to draw/whore ALL the attention to themselves by just starting a thread where they're the center of attention. That's how I see it. But then, I'm just one man with an opinion.

I personally am just at work, wishing I was not, as usual. I was on a beach yesterday and now I'm in an ice box of an office. Life at least was good :p

I'm feeling better, after getting sick on Friday. I had a pretty strong interview last week for a better job -- fingers and legs crossed. Mookie is learning about consequences. I'm going to work out today, since I'm feeling better. And, the sun is out before noon today, which it wasn't yesterday.

Mookie is learning about consequences.
Uh oh, what happened?
Edit: Did he do something wrong or are you just teaching him about consequences in general? I read that and thought he'd put the cat in the waste disposal or something.

A friend of mine just moved far away :( but he talked me into not using invisible mode on BBMB so that he can come on and see if I'm on and feel a weird sort of connection. I know. Quiet. He's the one who gave me the new avatar and the one in my profile.
My friend in Qatar is in touch with me again, whew.
I think him being there is harder on me than it is on him.
Am planning a birthday party for my sister, who is 4 years older than I am. She's on the threshold of a milestone birthday, something that matters to her. She has very specific requirements for the cake. I can't screw this up.
I finished a book that I didn't really want to start in the first place and I finished it so that I could get another one.
Ran a long time with a friend over the weekend. Trying to resist doing it again this weekend.

I think it all happened when some other kid at school bit him -- twice. These bites were bad enough that they left bruises and nearly broke the skin. After the second one, I set up a meeting with the daycare staff. I later found out this same kid had been biting other kids.
In the meantime, the kids, including Mookie, all started hitting each other. Mookie's a bit larger than the other kids, so he was taking no prisoners. We'd get daily reports of how many times Mookie hit someone.
So, consequences were introduced to get him to stop hitting. If he hit anyone all week, he'd get no movie night on Fridays. He missed two movie nights, but he finally stopped hitting two weeks ago. We feel like we're super parents now.

I've got friends who are struggling with biting too. Fortunately, the daycare providers are trying hard to get it to stop. It only works, though, if the parents are bought into it 100%. In the situation with my friends, some of the other parents are inconsistent in their approach to the biting so the success is sporatic. It drags it out for everyone.
When my kid was in school, I hated getting those daily reports. But they helped to keep me in good shape because I'd fast-walk (nearly run) through the school halls to avoid my kid's one insane control-freak teacher. :) I interacted just fine with the other teachers, but this one in particular was always all over me. She was REALLY all over my kid. He and I were both glad when she moved onto someone else. Some people have to have an enemy in their lives or they get in even worse moods...she was one of those types of people. We did our time with her for those 10 months and still laugh about it. :)

Everybody gets nervous when jumping out of a cake for the first time. Do a couple shots beforehand. Worked wonders for me.

Biting and hitting with kids is so difficult to handle.
I used to work for daycares a lot and although there were ways of handling it, you also had to be careful that you didn't piss off the parents by the way you do handle it.
For the most part I would just scold the kids, basically saying that it's bad and that they should not hurt others, "use your words" and all. And/or I'd just seperate them.
Even the latter would irritated some parents. Couldn't make everyone happy! Bleh!

(And if I have those shots, then I might have to post in that "you know its real badd when. . . " thread.)

I think I am going to have a somewhat hard time raising children if and when I decide to. The problem is, I don't really know how to establish authority without turning into a horrible dictator...I've done my share of babysitting of a 4/5 year old and he just seemed to laugh when I told him not to do things. Granted, he didn't have a mother in the picture at all and his dad had a drinking problem, which may have been why he questioned my authority.
I don't really know where I was going with this, ha :\ uhh anyway, good luck with mookie.
p.s. my massage therapist is named Mookie...really his name is Mookie. He's hawaiian :)

That's the point when you tell the parents that they're doing a terrible job and that their kid would be better off with Dennis Rodman.

So far, it's not been too hard with Mookie, but I imagine in the next year or so, it's going to get worse. I don't think the "because I said so" line is going to be too effective.
But then again, like ee has said about her kid, I'm learning everyday from watching and interacting with Mookie. So maybe we'll figure it out.
Your massage therapist has a cool name. :\

i'm being lazy but today i have to go to my new school and take their stupid assessment test and talk with a counselor about my classes. BUT, much more interestingly, i had the craziest dream, all because of Beth's wedding dress thread.
i dreamt that steger and i were getting married, like right now. and i had this hideous poofy gown with the giant shoulders and all and he had some ugly suit because it was so rushed. it was not at all how we had pictured it or wanted it. i think it was even in some courthouse. finally i pulled him aside and said we have to wait, this is not how we wanted it to be, and we're not ready for this, i'm only 21, etc. and he hung his head and i thought he would be relieved but i asked him if he had really wanted to and he said yes. THEN i saw my grandma sobbing in the corner and i felt AWFUL. she said something about not knowing how much longer she'd last and wanting to see me get married...then all of a sudden it was the next morning and i was talking to my grandpa on some stairs outside and this giant black cloud came and these huge iguana-looking lizards with battle armor came and attacked us. i tried to get him to run but he didn't see them in time and they ate my grandpa's legs :( i apparently was a doctor in the anti-lizard army and my stupid laptop had been all screwed up by some jerk that made it automatically sign in to some ridiculous hello kitty chat room and download this trojan that would mess it up. then i was messing with the preferences on the chat program to fix it and i found someone had profiled me and said that i would never be happy and probably would die miserable. it was obviously someone that didn't like me. then i went to battle, and that's about all i remember...

haha holy shit, you remember very vivid details...my stories of dreams are usually along the lines of "well you were there..and then we went to that place from when we were 10 do you remember? oh shit you dont? okay well we were there, and then the next thing you know that kid from our junior english class was there! he had sorta dark hair and he wore t-shirts all the time. damn what was his name? uh and then all of a sudden you were gone and I was alone in some dark place..." and right about then I realize wow, my dream-story sucks :(
