.....one of my fav's up there next to "Paul Revere".

Can anyone relate, or confirm that High Plains Drifter, would be a sequel to "Paul Revere". (lb)

i just love how adrock's in the background rapping during the opening, while i think it's mike d doing the main (louder) rap, they integrate well

My favorite is,

"Read me my rights, fingerprinted and booked cause I'm a makin like a DT driving a Gran Fury"

While Yauch and Mike D are saying "Cause I'm I'm a high plains drifter at the same time"

Absolutley great

Makin' like a D.T. driving a Gran Fury
Wherever I hang my hat's my home and my past is kind of blurry
Every dog will have its day and mine will be in front of a jury
I'm the High Plains Drifter you know I'm never in a hurry

My favorite Beastie song, hands down. The beats, the lyrics, the production...a classic.

OK.

Hate to be the dissenting voice, but I'll put Eggman and B-Boy Bouilabaisse ahead of High Plains Drifter.

I agree it's a Top Ten for the Beasties, but Eggman is more lyrically rich and B-Boy Bouilabaisse is more rhythmically dense.

As for being a sequel or a prequel to Paul Revere (which is the best on LTI IMO :) ), I'd put it in the prequel category. I wonder when Paul Revere and High Plains Drifter were written? At the same time, then split into two (like a lot of unfinished stuff off PB that ended up on CYH?)?

Or totally separate?

Either way, it's a kick ass song and I thank the Eagles for that bass line and the funky talk box guitar from Joe Walsh. Makes the song.

Read me my rights
As if I didn't know this
Threw me in a tank with a drunk called Otis

With his five o'clock shadow
He smelled of three day old beer

My man looked at me and said : why are you heeear?

I said : I'm charming, I'm dashing....

 (y) :D

it was only after a few listens to PB that i began to like high plains drifter. overall the track is rather empty production wise compared to the rest of the album and i found myself skipping it and listening to the layers of beats and samples on the rest of the album. i eventually gave it a chance though and i agree, it has some of the most amazing rhyming and crossovers on it. i usually get lost towards the end of the 'story' though, right after the 'He said you behave son or we'll throw away the key' lyric. i found it hard to keep up with what was being said and couldnt make out a few words and i got lost with whats happening. hell, it was only the other day that i realised that the 'high plains drifter' had won on a horse at the races :p
