Picked the first strawberries of the year today! Yum!

The smaller ones are called smulgubbar, they're sort of mixture of wild strawberries and garden strawberries, they're bigger than the wild ones, but have that wonderful taste! Yum! Yum!

I had the best strawberries on Sunday to celebrate Wimbledon.
Strawberries, cream, and perrier.
We were being such snobs but we knew it and it was okay.

I love strawberries and growing them in your own yard makes them that much better!

ooh, that looks fantastic. we get the best strawberries around here. the season's ending its peak right now. we've been getting them for a few months now. my mom has been making strawberry pies the last few weekends, and oh man...she makes the glaze herself, with just the puree and sugar and corn starch. mmmm.

Those do look tasty.

Thanks to Strawberry Shortcake, I know mastigate is the opposite of marinate. :)

my god,a thread about strawberries, ofcourse...i love it, seriously! just strawberries and people talking about them and posting pictures of its various forms. theres something about strawberries that change your mood and make you cheerful or make you feel good, just by simply looking at them. they also seem to have this sort of relation to childhood, dont they? a relation to children and childhood and our own childhood...the color is also really strong, maybe thats got something to do with it, but...theres just something abuot strawberries, a fucking fruit having some sort of psychological effect is beyond interesting.

i remember i wanted to write a shortplay about strawberries called The Strawberry Matrimony (meaning the matrimony within the couple and the family w/ the berries) and a family that would eat them ritually and them having this whole magical (a bit of a fictional/exxagerated take of course) effect on them like they sort of do in real life, but like alot of things i write i only finished a few paragraphs.

strawberries.

I remember picking wild strawberries along the side of a country dirt road at the edge of the woods near where my gram-gram lived. We'd put them in little metal pails and eat half of them on the way back. She'd make and can strawberry preserves the likes of which you cannot by in a store.
Wow. This memory is so vivid. I can see the sheets drying on the clothesline in her yard and smell the honeysuckle and hear the morning doves. Hmm. I think that may have been one of the best places on earth.

PS There is strawberry cheesecake in my fridge right now. (y)

When I looked at this thread yesterday, that first photo didn't show up. Weird. Now I see it, though. Those strawberries look yummy! I have some with blueberries packed in my lunch. I want them now.
