what are your thoughts on the young Conor Oberst, I've been listing to his three latest albums... 'wide awake....','digital ash....' and 'story is in the soil...', and am honestly amazed at the lyrical maturity and emotional weight these albums all hold... Just heard also that he held the 2 top slots on the billboard charts a while back (amazed!).

So what do you think about the music?

I really, really don't like Conor Oberst, especially after that excruciatingly pretentious political song he did on Jay Leno. Musically, I guess he's alright though.

I absolutely love him! I am so glad that he is finally getting the exposure that he deserves without going over to a major label. His lyrics are incredible and he is awesome live.

If you like the more angry/political aspect of Bright Eyes you should check out Desaparicidos, which is a harder edged group with Conor on vocals (their album is called Read Music/Speak Spanish).

I'm actually obsessed with Saddle Creek in general (especially The Faint, Maria Taylor, and The Good Life).

That's the best thing he's done thus far, personally I think his Bright Eyes albums have a tendency to have four or five great tracks on interspersed with some other stuff that he didn't really put much effort into.
