On there next LP....do you think it will be a repeat of TT5B?

Granted there is a lot of bullshit in politics and the world we live in today.

What do YOU think they should stick to, or would be different (what_ 2 years from now>>>>>lets just say what do you as fans expect??

If they ever make another record I don't think it'll be a repeat of TT5B, I mean I hope it won't.

They never repeated themselves. Each record was different.

LP = long player; includes music for at least 30 minutes or include at least six tracks (so you can find albums that are under 30 mins if they're really fast!)
EP = extended player; extended single with five tracks at the most (I think)
single = a record with one track on A-side and one or two tracks on the B-side

these terms come from the vinyl days.

Man you never know what to expect from them guys! I doubt it'll be a repeat of TT5B though. I'm predicting they'll definatly have some rap, maybe some instrumentals. You never know what to expect.

I doubt it'll be a repeat, but I'm thinking it'll be either an instrumental, like In Sound From Way Out, except more of a rock style than a lounge style. OR it will be like Hello Nasty, which was just fantastic, except with maybe a bit more Ill Comm influence. Still, you never know with these guys, they always surprise, they might come out with a classical music album :)

"i got a FEVER......and the only percription, is MORE cowbell"!!! :D

Yeah, a collaberation w/ some other artist would be great.

You're forgetting about Lee Perry on "Dr. Lee PhD", as well as the numerous appearances by The Biz and that small snippet with Ted Nugent on CYH.

To answer the question at hand, though. I'm sure they'll return to their nineties album formula for the next one. Their nineties formula being the mix of hip-hop, rock, jazz, funk, etc. Instrumentals, sampling, hot beats, the works. Although their formula remains consistent, it's the fashion of the songs that changes. If look at the hip-hop songs and instrumentals by each album, they are all hip-hop and instrumentals, but they each have a different sound to them. Like if you heard a handful of beats from HN and a handful from CYH, you could immediately tell a difference in sound, theme, creativity, ensemble, etc.

I hope the next LP has the positive messages and views the Beastie Boys believe in, but I also would like to see them go back to the heavy sampling and line splitting of Paul's Boutique.

cuz if you notice thay don't split up lines like they used to where each one says one part of the same sentence Now they just have a couple of lines each - its like they've gotten lazy or something.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Except I couldn't put it in words.

They've always kinda gone back and forth between like line splitting and taking full versus. I wouldn't call it laziness, I just think sometimes they're in to the writing together, line splitting mood, and sometimes it just works better with versus.

LTI and PB were more line splitting, although there's a few moments on PB where they get their turns (at more than a line eg. 3-minute rule). CYH had the line splitting style on say Jimmy James but the versus came into focus on So Watcha Want.

It works both ways pretty good. I can't imagine Sure Shot, or the majority of the rapping tracks on Ill Communication without the rap's being in versus...it suits that album best. And needless to say Hello Nasty was mostly line splitting, and tracks like the Move, Just a Test, Body Movin' ect it's a very effective style(y)

To me they can rap however they want, for TT5B I loved the fact it was all versus. The rapping in Ch-Check It Out or An Open Letter is obviously different from say, Negotiation Limerick File, but equally effective to me. They'll probs switch it up on the next record...it'll be interesting though!
