moms friend: Well, Gene (husband) just bought a new one and the old one (purchased summer 2004 thru dell for approx $1500) doesnt serve much purpose
me: you could sell it
moms friend: Im worried about people hacking my files
me: oh yeah people can do that
moms friend: how about I just give you it? You're good with computers arent you?
me: yeah I could use it too, plus I can make sure no one hacks your files.

moral of the story, broken computer becomes nice new(er) computer with no cost to me.

i find pc's just thrown out on the treebelt all the time. i usually take just rip the side panel off and nab all the ram and the vid and sound cards. people are increadibly stupid. i also hate the fuckers that buy a 3 grand pc and all they do with it is use the internet and burn cd's

For someone who is trying to learn web design as a profession I am very not computer saavy. It's a constant uphill struggle at the moment especially working from books which give instructions that sometimes just don't work.

Is there anybody out there who can help me with current problem? I'm working on Mac OS X Panther with PHP and MySQL. When I try to work in MySQL in Terminal or I try to connect to a database with Dreamweaver I get an Error 2002 - Cant connect to MySQL Server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

I've looked for answers for this on the web and most involve configuring my.cnf or my.ini files or locating mysql.sock - none of which I have. Can anyone shed any light on this? I never had this problem till I installed Macromedia Studio MX 2004.
