I get home from work Friday, veg out for a little bit on my Mac and turn on MTV (something I rarely watch), this was around 5 EST. MTV is showing some show called "Real Life" and this episode was titled "I'm Broke". It chronicled 3 young folks and their lack of monetary funds. I sort of got hooked and started watching. They were:
Some guy in IL who was trying to get into the Army, but because he was on parole they wouldnt take him till he was off parole (plus he could only halfway read), in the meantime his family is being evicted from their shack. Maybe he should have thought about the aftermath of committing crimes before he considered the Army as a means of escaping poverty?? I couldnt help notice that when the family was packing up prior to their eviction, they had to dig up THEIR SATELLITE TV DISH from the front yard. They couldnt pay the rent, but they could pay the Dish bill????
Some idiot girl in IN (I think) who dropped out of high school and was working as a waitress, trying to save up enough money to buy a car, who was going to complete her GED when she could, and had moved away from home. She kept getting robbed so her savings was always being sold. But she got fired for having pot on the job and had to get a job of some fast food joint with no tips, min wage, which she quit after 3 days. She wound up taking the bus back home.
Some couple in CA who were being kicked out by her mom, had no money, trying to find an apartment.
Of course, at the end of the show MTV shows some websites about how to beat poverty. Guess what, these people were in poverty due to the results of their own actions. What idiots, and what idiots MTV is for thinking I would feel sorry for these stupid people.
These folks want to know why they have no money and no future? Look in the GD mirror.
