Anyone fans of them?
I've been meaning to check them out for some time, but I've been unsure where to start. Obviously, I want to start with the early works, but the record stores seem to have their later releases and greatest hits compilations in greater supply. Now, I hear that their new stuff is still strong, but I think it's better to see where it all began.
Which '80s era stuff would you say is best in order to launch an exploration into Erasure's discography?

Oh jeez. You just had to go there, didn't you? Just when the whole gay thing died down, finally...and now, here you go breathing all this new life into it.
Anyway, There's no real perfect Erasure album. The Innocents is probably the best, though. Wonderland, Chorus, S/T and I Say I Say I Say all have their strong moments, though.

Yeah, but everybody knows that I'm a total manly stud, so it's ok.

Indeedy.
Whenever you aren't listening to Wham wearing nothing but boots that is.
But that's cool.

C'mon guys, what's so gay about wanting to give props to a former Depeche Mode member (Vince Clarke)? ;)

"The Innocents" is probably your best bet; as noted, their albums are patchy, to say the least.
The "Erasure Pop!: The First 20 Hits!" compilation gives you all the early Erasure you'll need. Most of the albums consist of a good single, some iffy material and extended mixes anyway; skip the dross and revel in the goodness instead.
