My musical taste is eclectic as hell.

This week, I indulged in Atreyu, Miles Davis, Dr. Dre, Billie Holiday, New Order... among a few others at the record store. If that's not musically schizo, I don't know what is. ;)

shit, I'll look at my record collection and think what the fuck. It goes from Black Uhuru, to the police to sex pistols to the roots to salsa jams to the origional peter pan soundtrack to detroit tecno to london dub. I guess that is good cause all music is rooted and influensed my some other older school shit. I try to stay true to the roots of music and explore new shit. The only new song I am really into jammin though (for charted music and radio shit) is Ludacris' "Number One Spot" That song is fierce!!!! Very origional and creative. I can hear that one over and over and not get sick of it.

Classical like Beethoven, Mozart, Wagner, Handel, Bach?

Yessir.

Do the Trews count as blues? They have some blues influence.

Diana Krall is all I know of jazz.

Electronic=? Name some.

ToucanSpam,

The Trews are NOT a blues band. Most rock 'n roll is rooted in the blues, no question, but that doesn't mean it's the same.

Blues is more things like Robert Johnson or B.B. King or Johnny Lee Hooker.

And jazz, nuh uh, stay away from that Diana Krall shit. Go get into some Miles Davis and John Coltrane. That's authentic.

Electronic... that's such a diverse field, with a billion sub-genres and styles abundant throughout. But stuff like Kraftwerk, Moby, Zero 7, Thievery Corporation, etc. can all fall under "electronic."

Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, The Avalanches, Basement Jaxx, The Prodigy, Sonic Animation, are all what I consider electronica. They are also my favourites of the genre. Moby Electronica? I suppose :)

My tastes range from hip hop (from a select few groups), rap (from an even fewer number of acts, pre 2000 I'd say), electronic, 70s funk (and a bit of jamiroquai), punk (ala clash, ramones, pistols, to a lesser extent bad religion and nofx etc), nordic punk (seriously they know how to do it right! Hives, Millencolin, Rancid etc), post punk sorta stuff like atdi and mars volta and sparta, Aussie rock, some revival rock, most of whats considered alt rock, classic rock..etc etc

Basically I dont really like R & B, or pop dance sorta stuff (although I can deal with it in nightclubs if theres enough ladies to distract me;)), and i haven't listened to blues or jazz much, although the Blues Brothers is my favourite movie of all time :D

I also know my classical because I was in a cathedral choir for 10 years.

DroppinScience,

I never said the Trews were a blues band. I know they are Rock and Roll, but I figured that they could be more than one genre. My mistake. I forgot you are the absolute authority on everything music.

Don't you mean Scandinavian punk? Those bands are all Swedish, actually. Except Rancid. Unless the Bay area is now part of Sweden now.

John Lee Hooker.

Where I'm from, people who do this are called "ant fuckers" (thats the literal translation)

I guess you'd say "knitpicker" or something.
