The best rush for me is when one of the kids I work with 'gets it' and has a "light bulb" moment, or when they tell me something that shows me that they feel successful. I know that sounds really corny and sappy and more emotional than I mean it to, but it's true. Some of my kids have faced such tremendously difficult circumstances in their young lives and have spent a lot of time feeling worthless, stupid, unwanted, unable. When I see them display little flashes of pride and confidence, it makes me want to punch the air and yell "YES! Woohoo!"
