View Full Version : Mix Master in Perth (August 26th)
lucky there was no one in the staff room when i screamed "fuck yeah!" after reading that Mix Master was scheduled to play at the Heat nightclub on the 26th of AUG.
i'll be 18 by then so i'll be able to get in no matter what.

I'll try and find out the correct information this week, because I might organise to head to a few of these shows. I'll post whatever I can find out to clear this up.
well i picked up todays Xpress and it has a huge page-size advert for him saying the 27th so i guess the date is set. $40 a ticket - which is alright but hard if you gotta pay TAFE fees and buy new text books. (n)
i'll be there. Kid P will most likely too.

The battle is on, a truly mad Mix Tape CD available now at all good music stores!

Lucky bumholes
The tour he is on is comming to tassie!!!!
but no MMM.
looks like i'll be the cat sitting at the bar, by himself, and i'll probably be drunk by the time MMM is up.
hmm...
hitmonlee

i'll be drunk... a friend is working the bar. hopefully he's gonna get me a signed poster too (fingers crossed).
you gonna wear a bboys tshirt? if i by any crazy chance recognise you ill say hi.
uhhh probably not. my bboys top is pretty big and no 'club' worthing. are hats allowed at that club? i'll wear my bboys hat.
hitmonlee

heat is casual, especially if there's a hip hop event on. caps are fine, the bouncers usually take it off when checking your id but that's all. sneakers fine as well.
alright. i figured so cause it is hip hop.
i'll be wearing the black bboys hat (you can see pics of it in the BBoys.com store)
and i'll be passed out when MMM comes on. \m/

Thanks for the review. How big was this place? How many people were there? How long was his set?
Kid P will probably post a better review.
his set went for about an hour to an hour and a half.
the club was smaller than i was expecting but the place was packed! it was a nice and cosy place. 100+ people - i can't really say but they ALL there to see the mix master.
one of the first songs he skratched up was 'mystery of chessboxin' which happens to be my fav. wutang joint (y)
other songs he skratched up:
brass monkey,
smells like teen spirit (club went mad when this came on),
BYOB (this was awes!),
chop suey!,
no sleep till brooklyn,
seven nation army,
killing in the name (another awesome joint)
galvanize
a lot of RnB joints and some old school shit there too.

Tzar, your review was fine. (y)
Anybody on these boards had a rough idea of what to expect, it was nice to see the reaction he got from those non-OMFG peeps.
Biggest pop of the night went to 'No Sleep til Brooklyn' though... ;)
I had my Beasties hoodie up, and MMM's wife pointed at me upstairs, cause she must have though I was bootleggin.
Must have been 1000+people? Maybe? Crowd was very pumped.

1000 peeps! ahaha shoots my 100+ out of the water. :D
but yeah it was pretty packed out. i'm glad i went - i really was about to say 'nah i can't be fucked...'

it was a very mixed crowd, lots of older crew there, plenty of people who you look at and go "you like hip hop?"
unfortuntely i got there kinda late and didn't manage to get a decent spot to see mixmaster very well, so i sort of moved around a lot during his set, talking to friends and standing on my tip toes to see something (i'm short).
no sleep till brooklyn was a definite highlight for me
that really should have been at metros... i thought crowd maybe 800? it can be more packed than that, glad it wasn't. didn't see you tzar, i spent most of my time upstairs and didn't really manage to search the crowd much.
i got 2 hours sleep. broken.
review in the Xpress is all (y)'s
i think the last sentence was "unforgettable, that's all it was".
the reviewer was right. :D
