she's a female. we'll call her A.
A has this female friend who we'll call B. I met B once at a party. She was nice. Then shortly after B went on a trip for over six months. Now she's back. A has talked to B and apparently B said "say hi to him for me" (him would be me) So when I saw A she told me that and I said "say hi to her for me" So she did and apparently B said "say hi to him for me again"
So I don't know how much longer we'll have to do this but I don't know what to do. I don't know if this means anything. Ok it probably means that B wants me to call her or something but I'm not sure. I kind of want to but I've only seen her once and it was in '04 and she was cool but I don't know I'll look like a desperate moron if I call her and she didn't really want to get together or something. So maybe I shouldn't do anything with it. Although she was nice.

she's obviously at least interested. go for it. what have you got to lose? if you get turned down, it's really not the end of the world.

"Desperate moron". Hahahahaha!:D
Maybe.
What's this?? Kindergarden love??
You sound like my brother "Hey, that girl looked at me!!!" and he's old.
Just incorporate the "desperate moron" inside yourself and ask her out.
OR, you can sit at your computer screen and wonder if she likes you until you go to your lovely coffin and rest like a princess.
:p

msf, that was really really funny and probably good advice.
it's just that the past year a lot of things happened and a lot of things went wrong in this... department. not talking about rejection though. i just don't know if i want another incident. in my head now i can only think about how it could go wrong. i'm the exact opposite usually.

A+B=goodtimes
you should tell A to tell B you said hi again. and just keep that up.
then after 2 weeks of that, you can give A a note to give to B that says: "will you go with me? check yes or no."

as much as MSF's comments were pretty blunt, they are the truth. Go get 'er!

Why don't you get together a group thing--have a few of you (6ish maybe, including A & B and you) go to a movie and then somewhere afterwards to talk about the movie. That way, you can gauge where she's at without being right in her face.

That doesnt work as much as you would think, mom. Sometimes the girl will get preoccupied with someone else, and you cant gague anything.

Sure you can. You can gauge that she's more interested in the someone else than in you. If you pull together enough of these things and you see similar treatment at each of them, then you have your answer.
Personally, I'd rather take a more direct approach rather than relying on doing things like that, but it sounded like maybe that was too tough to do...a little awkward for him.
The movie/after-movie thing means that you have to take a chance of being ignored.
No one likes to be ignored.

when you say "we're dating" it means you've already gone out at least once, i think.
