apologize and plead 5 miles over......this was advice given to me by a cop.......it worked for me and i didn't show up to the hearing.....i sent the magistrate a letter.....you'll end up paying a small fine, but no points!

I think the second one was a pretty good tip. I hate speeding.
the cop has to prove your speed. in fl, he can do that with an approved radar or laser gun, they can do it by air using distance traveled between two fixed points in x amount of time, or by pacing you. yes, they can visually estimate speed, but something must back it up. here, if they pace you, their speedometer in their car has to have been calibrated to be sure the speed is accurate.

If the cop busted you by radar, ask if the radar gun was functioning properly. States require inspections of equipment regularly and it's a good chance that the inspections weren't done on time, or at all, and there's no certified paperwork claiming so, thus no ticket.

all i know is that the only time i was caught speeding (85 in a 50), i was wearing a bikini top, as was my passenger. we told the cop that we were lost on our way home from montauk, and he just let us go with a warning.

Just suck it up man if it's your worst you're not to the point where you need to start panicking. Now when you get to where you might lose your license then you can start to worry.

Ha! That happened to me and my roommate a few years ago in Texas. Except the cop pulled us over because he thought we were drug smugglers. He did let us off with a warning, but only after he spent an hour searching the car and didn't find anything.
