ehh, olive oil's not that great for high heat frying like that. it's great for sauteeing, but for frying? go with canola or sunflower oil, something with a higher smoke point.

I've used it for my world famous breaded chicken breast dish. It works fine. Adds a bit of a darker coloring to the breading, and breaks down a little faster, but works.

Also, olive is generally more expensive than other oils, so you might want to use canola, or whatever Miss Nutrion USA recommends.

Good to know. And is canola oil and sunflower oil better for you than vegetable oil?

I guess I thought I was the only one who knew you can't cook with olive oil...anyone that can throw down in the kitchen is a-ok in my book.

very much so. canola oil has some problems, but it's much better than just "vegetable oil." i think all that is is hydrogenated soybean oil, which is just asking for cancer and heart disease.

my favorite oil = sesame. not really for frying, but mannn is it yummy.

A friend of mine who hunts and camps A LOT has a large deep fryer.
Last time we went to Canada on our fishing trip he deep fried an entire turkey.
It was the best turkey you'd ever want to eat.
He injected it with spices.
It was surprisingly not greasy at all
in fact, it was even less greasy than if you cook it in a conventional oven.
I think he used Corn Oil, but I can't be sure.

Grapeseed oil is good for frying, it has almost no taste. It's good for you, and you can use it in your hair.

Peanut oil is great for frying if you don't mind peanutty porkchops.

Deep fried turkey is the best....never had it until I lived in the south and I thought it sounded ridiculous, but it's awesome (y)
