I'm pretty satisfied with the beat I made, not sure about how they sound together though. I haven't really put a lot of variation in it, I just wanted to know what my beat would sound like with an actual a capella on top of it. Check it out

The lyrics sound a little not-so-in-sync with the beat...
Not to mention that this loop is one of the oldest drum loops in the history of hip-hop. Other than that loop with a horn stab every once in a while, I honestly don't see what's so special about this beat. I'm not trying to be a dick, but I'm sure I come off that way, I'm just saying the facts (as I see 'em).

honestly, i didn't know that. i just took it from a collection of old disco songs and stuff with breaks in them. usually i sample kicks and snares and use those to make my own beat, but this time i just took a whole loop. then i added another part i sampled with the percussion and the horn stabs and the little bass part that comes in.
about synching them, i don't know what it is, this is really the best i could do with the synching. i doesn't sound completely right i have to admit.

I think primarily this could benefit by taking the vocals out, first. Either that or sync them up using something like Acid Pro or Cakewalk.
But, from what I could hear, it could also benefit from a little bit more layering or something. Nevermind the fact that the drum loop has been used a lot before 'cause that happens a lot in hip-hop sometimes (Apache, anyone?). It just sounded really basic to me though. That's not always a bad thing though, some people can rock out tracks like that.
So, I'd say either make it a little more complex (maybe add a little more instrumentation, possibly another drum track on top of the other one, a few more instrument samples, whatever) or find an MC whose style is more fitting to something a little more basic and then hook that stuff up.

thanks for the input.
i synched them using acid pro, but it doesn't sound right. the beatmapper said it was 109 bpm or something (the a capella) i checked the thread with the bpm's on this board and changed it to that. then when i tried synching them up it just wouldn't come out better than this. i don't know usually i can get it right but not with this a capella. strange. any ideas?

I'd load up the original track somewhere and find out where one of the downbeats are on their verses. I have a lot of problems hearing the beats in a capella tracks myself, so this is the little cheat I use to sync up my stuff.
Once you've verified where the downbeat falls, I'd double check the a capella file in Acid to make sure it's got it on the same spot. While you're in there with the original track I'd double check the BPM's too and make sure that those are correct as well.

Yeah, I'm always glad to help. I'm not the best at the stuff but if you ever need any more help/advice/whatever just send me a PM or something and I'll do what I can.

the first downbeat of right right now now is at ONCE upon a time...etc.
and the next downbeat is the ''c'' in ''mc's'', i havent downloaded it, but i will...slow connection i have. and all the tempos in that thread are correct

You know what, I actualy spent 10 minutes doing the gay registration just to hear this. Seriously, I was curious.
Alright, I like the beat, it's cool, but it doesn't seem to fit for some reason. There is this clicking I keep hearing, not sure what it is, but it distracts me from the rest of the song. Overall I just didn't feel it.
That being said, I want to hear more of your stuff. This remix wasn't so hot, IMO, but I appreciate your effort, you must have more to check out right?

i appreciate that you took the time to listen. actually i don't think it's necessary to register to listen, or maybe its necessary if you want to hear the hi-fi version.
i'm curious what you mean with clicking though, i can't hear it. maybe it's one of the horn stabs at the start of a measure?
i don't really have any more finished remixes right now, but i've got some more or less finished beats. i'll be uploading more stuff in the near future.

I cant explain it I think it might be part of the backbeat. Or I am secretly retarted. Could be both.
I did listen to the other thing online there, I kept expecting it to break into something bigger with more utnrtable scratches. I liked it but I demanded more.
Hey, I think you are on to some decent stuff, so I'll keep listening.
