View Full Version : I think my cat is trying to commit sucide...

Seriously...he is a house cat and since I work 9-5 every day he is alone...but when I get home I take him out for walks (he's leash trained, I'm psycho I know), play with him, obsess over him, spend most of the rest of the evening till I go to bed messing with him because I feel so guilty about leaving him alone all day.

So latey when I take him out he eats anything that comes in his way. Now I know cats eat grass, weeds, shrubs but yesterday he was eating paint chips, wood, left over firecrackers from the 4th...I can't catch him fast enough before he swollows! I can't think that any of this can be good for him and the only thing I can think of is that he is so loney and upset that he is alone all day that he wants to commit Harry Carry. Maybe I am just nuts...I mean come on I did leash train him.

So...who has cats and what do ya think?

PS
Please do not suggest getting him another cat because having 2 cats is not an option for me right now.

As I've always said, pets are reflections of their owners... stop eating the fucking firecrackers and paint chips yourself and he may follow...

My old cat jumped through a window, right into the shrubs below. I didn't think she'd actually do it. Then I found the note.

Seriously though, she jumped.

The cat may have a food alergy or is simply not getting enough of something in it's diet. Or it could even have something to do with his teeth. Does his mouth seem sensitive?

about your cat eating everything--I hope you figure out your cat's problem. (I do notice that my two cats like to eat plastic bags and anything made of straw. And plastic straws. They love to eat those. They've been doing this forever--so far, I haven't correlated it with anything except for boredom.)

about cats & leashes--An older woman in my neighborhood has two gorgeous black cats that she keeps on leashes in her front yard. The leashes are just long lengths of rope that are tied around the necks of the cats. No collars. Just rope. The cats seem to know what to do and not do.

My cat doesn't eat the plastic bags, but she licks them and sniffs them and rubs them with her paws. And they make her sneeze.

You should get a stake for the yard and leave your cat chained outside. That would be the funniest thing I think someone could ever see.

Cats are so fucked up but at least they don't eat their own shit.

That's what that neighbor of mine does, except it's not a chain. It's a big, fat rope. Those cats keep their eyes lowered. They know who the alpha male is.

Wow, look at that desperate look in his eyes.

When I first got my cats (both times) I took them out on leashes to show them where they can go and where not. There's a busy road just 50 meters from my door and Iris was hit by a car there. One of my neighbours lost two of his cats there and my other neighbour found two cat carcasses in the little "forest" on the other side of the road just a few weeks ago, thrown there by motorists. She takes her cat out on a leash because she wants to keep him alive.
My Ziggy was also hit by a car, but on a motorway a couple of hundred meters away. Luckily Cosmo and Chloë are scared of everything noisy so they don't even go that way.

I think your cat is missing something in his diet. Cats eat grass to get the furballs out of their system. Iris got two grasses stuck in her throat so she couldn't eat and her breathing was heavy. Also I couldn't give her her birth pill so of course she got pregnant. I had to take her to the vet (I didn't know what was wrong with her). They did an Xray and then pulled the grass out.

My cats love yeast pills and I got some special toothpaste that keeps off the plaque. They love it, but it was so expensive I use it more as a treat.

Rabbits do. That's why I never kiss them on the mouth (n)
One of my cats loved to put in head inside my shoes and sleep on them...with that smell talk about a suicide
:D
