I have all of the Lemony Snicket books too. And I am falling for Cornelia Funke at the moment. Inkheart and The Thief Lord. Good stuff.

I read a lot of kids books -- especially when I fly. I read about 7 Lemony Snicketts before I got tired of them all being the same. :o

I read Hoot and liked it. by Hiaasen (sp?) I'm usually about 5 years behind the trend. I did read Holes before the movie was made though. :) I also read children's nonfiction when I want to know just a little bit about someone or something.


I got an email saying that my book was dispatched this morning, which means I'll be able to read it next weekend. So I have a good reason to get caught up at work before then.

I cannot believe people actually queued up to buy it at midnight.

I was on a night out, like most Fridays, and I was thinking "That's not a club. Why are there people queing?". They had their faces painted and everything. I also couldn't believe some of the people in the queue were children!

The amount of abuse they received from drunken party-goers was pretty funny though. I think I did too (but you have to understand, I was drunk).

I wandered into the bookstore this afternoon. I feel like Norm from Cheers when I go in there.

Way in the back of the store, I found a bin of free plastic Harry Potter glasses.

I put a pair on and then picked up the HP book to browse it. Nice color for the cover.

Then I got lured to the table next to Harry and then over to the Staff Recommendations shelves, which tempt me because they change pretty frequently at this store.

I forgot about the glasses.

When I looked up it was because there was noise at the front of the store. A news crew was there filming the tall stacks of HP books and there I was in the background.

So Sunday or Monday, I go to the Foo Fighters Board for the first time in a month and there's a thread title on the main index that gives away the major plot development. And it had been on the board for a long time. Then it got deleted but some other asshole started a thread asking where it went and repeating the title that continued to give away the plot. That thread is still there, so don't go to that fucking board if you're going to read the book.

I can't imagine what kind of creeps think that's funny. I wonder how many people had their experience ruined. It didn't ruin the book for me but it sure took a lot of the fun out of it. Bastards.
