it is a disorder and it's called Complusive Hoarding. it's very similar to OCD. Some people hoard inatimate objects others hoard animals, which is not so great for the animals obviously.

I was just saying that it's hard enough to keep up with 2 cats in my place and YEAH, where were those neighbors?! Cats are territorial...big money says those males were stinky-marking things left/right. Poor babies.

A woman in my sister's neighborhood did something similar to this, but she didn't let the cats indoors. She just fed them. A lot. I'm talking doling out bags-ful of food each day.

The result is that there are dozens and dozens of nearly identical-looking feral cats in her neighborhood. They're nervous, skitterish, comletely unapproachable.

That woman moved away and some of those cats still sit on the porch waiting for the food.

yeah cats are not above incest, at all. they'll totally do thier sister or mother.

I lived in the country when I was growing up and at one point we had 13 outdoor cats. but the kittens started to come out looking like Yoda: huge eyes, ears on slung low on the side of the head. So we decided we had to get rid of a few and spay the others. we also had one called "cannibal kitty" she would eat her babies a few hours after they were born. I'd be playing in the yard and come across a half eaten kitten (and people wonder why I'm strange?). ah, good times.
