so because my school is stupid i dont get any finacial aid. that means i have to pay for it all myself. i'm broke. i was gonna go part time since i cant really afford to pay for it, and i just got a letter in the mail that says that if i dont go full time i lose my health insurance. so i have to go full time AND have my classes paid for AND send proof that im full time w/i the next 30 days. well tuition is due aug 2 anyway. and then i have to buy books. and and AND i really need to get that car, which my dad was gonna help pay for the car, but car + school + books + new guy at work that gives me less hours?
im gonna start looking for a second job shortly

yeah, its just kind of stressful and im not entirely sure what to do.
i didnt really realize until yesterday how poor i am *sigh*
but i called up my mom just now and she said she could help out a little. of course, she also said she'd start sending me money every few weeks and that she'd help pay for my car to get fixed and none of that ever happened.
i think ben's gonna let me kind of make payments on the car though so i dont have to pay the whole $1000 at once, so that'll help some i guess.
my boss made the new work schedule early. i was gonna ask him to put me on every day but it was done before i could ask. but hey, if i did get to do that id probably be posing in a week or so about how bad it sucks to work 14 days straight.
i did put up a note in the breakroom though saying that if anyone needed or wanted any days off, to give me a call and left my phone number. i told the busboys too. they normally dont let girls bus tables but im sure if one of them "really needs the day off" and "cant find anyone else" they'd let me. before me they didnt let girls work in the kitchen either, and i proved that girls are capeable of working, so maybe they'll let me. then id get tips too.

How come you don't get financial aid?

Get private loans. I have one through Citibank, and I'm looking at another one through Suntrust. They won't turn you away just because your EFC is too high, which was my biggest problem in getting financial aid. They're giving me $5,500 this year, and Suntrust has offered another $4,000...which I don't think I'll take, because I really hate paying back loans.
You can definitely pay for college, you just have to find the right places to look. No one ever really tells you these things.

the reason i cant get financial aid: on my FAFSA i put that my parents are seperated, becasue according to the definition on the form, they are. they havnt legally seperated or divorced.
the school sent me one of those types of letters that its a list that everyone gets, and they check next to which forms they need from you. there was a check next to "official court documents proving your parents seperation/divorce" or something like that. i send them a letter explaining my situation, dont live with my mom, she doesnt really have much to do with us, parents file taxes seperatly, etc etc, and sorry for the misunderstanding i put they were seperated because of this my bad, was the jist of it. they sent me back the exact same letter as the first time, only they double underlined "official" in red pen.
i want to avoid getting loans at all costs because i dont know when i'll be able to pay it off
i know heiress, and im looking for some other jobs. its hard to find anything where i can get a lot of hours and fit it in with my schedule and work everything out right.

Don't avoid getting loans. It may take a while to pay off, but it's worth not having to totally stress out. My brother went on scholarship/loans all 4 years of his school, and he's out and only owes $40 a month. You can also pay some off when you're in school, when you have extra funds, or if you get a great job after you get out, you can pay it off within a year or two.
I've got $3500 worth of loans stacked up, and another $5500 for this next year. I'll be coming out $9,000 in debt, but I'll be able to pay it off pretty easily. It's NOW that I don't have money.
Plus, paying off loans is an excellent credit-builder. (y)

Ooh. How much is it down there for community college?
Here, it's like $300 a class. I loved Montgomery College sooo much. I'm now paying $1200 for ONE class over the summer at UMD. That was all fall's tuition at community college. I miss it so much. That, and the teachers at MC were the best I've ever had...the teachers at UMD aren't nearly as good (basically cuz it's such a huge school, they can't have one-on-one relationships or anything with the students).
In the words of Billy Madison...STAY HERE! STAY HERE AS LONG AS YOU CAN! YOU MUST CHERISH IT! :(

for me to take 13 hrs its about $550
my school sucks hardcore and i hate it. i havnt learned anything there. at all. its like being in the 7th grade, only you have to do a whole whole whole lot more busy work. they just pile on so much busy work its hard to get it all done so you feel like you're really working hard.

$550 per class after 13 hours? or $550 for the full 13 hours? I've had a long suspicion I've been getting fucked up the ass for tuition in Maryland... supposedly Maryland is the 3rd worst in America for state school tuition. :-/
Some of the people I talk to don't like community college, so I guess I was lucky to go to Montgomery College. It's like a step down from UMD, still rigorous work and whatnot, but not as hard...also not as impersonal. Plus, we can say we went to the same college that the Blair Witch kids went to for their film project.

yeah, i totally understand. especially if it's due in just two weeks.
the plus side about living in a place with higher tuition costs, is higher pay rates (on average) in the area. my friends in south carolina pay less for tuition and rent, but they also get paid less, so it kinda evens out.

yeah i get paid about $150 every two weeks. i have to spend about $30 on gas every two weeks. i buy my own everything. ive taken to doing most of my eating at work. i can eat all the rice i want for free, and the chefs have to come in early and usually cook things for themselves and i can get some leftovers sometimes. sometimes i have to pass it up... they cook some scary stuff. i think one of the chefs has me figured out, whenever he cooks for everyone he tries to make sure that theres some left over for me.
i absolutly cannot eat anything they put squid sauce on. i dont know if its actual juice from squid or what, but the bottle says SQUID and its full of brown liquid and it smells like ass, and it instantly ruins anything it touches.

(y) good on ya for paying for your own stuff! I can get so pissed at my friends, because they constantly ask me to go out, and I remind them MY parents don't pay for me to go to school, so I have to pay for that, AND my car I have to commute to school with (30 miles away) and can't afford to go spend $20-30 every night to go out drinking or to clubs.
Employers look favorably on people who work and pay for their own things and go to college at the same time. Shows multi-tasking abilities or some shit.
Where do you work? Pls send me food. Thanks.

japanese steakhouse. i dont get to eat the kind of food they serve though. basically i get the things that arent suitable to serve to customers. like when we get our chicken, the breasts are connected and have icky stuff on them and the chefs trim them up all nice. then they cook me the chicken scraps. same with the steak and filet, they have to trim it and i can eat the little scrappy leftover pieces. sometimes i get some sushi that people were gonna throw away. and then i eat some of the scary stuff that the chefs cook. i stopped asking what it was. id rather not know. they eat grosser stuff than i do. the one that always makes sure i get fed, he eats raw beef. like when he trims the steaks and filets he'll just pull off pieces and eat it.
then again, when helived in laos he was kind of homeless and ate out of trashcans, so i guess he's not too picky when it comes to food.
