If Def Jam decided to cash in on the Beastie Boys 20th anniversary of "Licensed to Ill" and went and put out a CD/DVD set that contained this track lisiting:

CD: Rhymin & Stealin', The New Style, She's Crafty, Posse in Effect, Slow Ride, Girls, Fight for Your Right, No Sleep Till Brooklyn, Paul Revere, Hold It Now, Hit It , Brass Monkey, Slow and Low, Time to Get Ill, She's On It, Rock Hard, Party's Gettin' Rough, Beastie Groove, Drum Machine (MCA & Burzootie) + ("*Desperado", "*The Scenerio" & "I'm Down" if possible hidden).

DVD: "Rhymin & Stealin'", "Fight For Your Right (To Party)", "Hold It Now, Hit It", "No Sleep Til Brooklyn", "She's On It" & "She's Crafty".

...would you buy it?

What would you think if they did this? Should they do this?

(* not sure if these were Def Jam era tracks although they did "Desperado" in Tougher than Leather, the movie came ou late 1988 when the BBoys were already on a different label>)

I'd buy it for the DVD for the videos in high quality, they should of been on the video anthology just for the hilarity, the commentary would of been class.

Does anyone know if LTI ever made it to 10X platinum? A 20th anniversary release would help get it there.

I'd buy it.

Sure,I'd but it too. I hope, that also there'll be included some rare stuffs bout we even don't knew till this days. Some audiotracks, some videos.
It 'll be so cool!!! Maybe at once - we could to listen old material from White House album, which has been never released.

Why would anyone buy it? What "NEW" material is gonna be offered that people will want to buy? All those videos are on the LTI VHS tape along with the extras in between.

I might consider buying it if there was something previously unreleased thrown in there.

i actually have wat some believe to be a piece of it, its a solo-mca track (not drum machine) and its all pop sounding, i put it in one of my remixes for iced coffee. It's only a little sample and the lyrics go as following:

last bit of a verse:
baby doll, u look so def, check me out i rock the women the best

chorus:
mca she says to me, how u rock the mic so viciously, well i really dont kno but im glad to hear, i think its just the fact i persevier, and then i do the lady all the night long, by the time she leaves she'll be singin my song

ill hook everyone up with a link once the remix is done, i lost the original sample, all i have is wat i put on the mix. cheers :)

I'd download it. Wouldn't put money in Russell's pocket.

The Beasties still get "something" from LTI sales, right? I mean they included some LTI songs on the Anthology.

Even though I have all of the "rare" stuff, I'd still buy it.

but russel dont own def jam anymore!

they all still own a piece of it still....so does Rick Ruben. They may not be on the board but they still cash in some. I know Jay Zs the prez.....and so on and so on

to my understanding, russle doesnt own any of def jam anymore. thats what I read at least.

russle went off and started another company, with brother Run.

yeah, you may be right? i just heard that a few times from "unrealiable" sources....would you think he'd collect some percentage along with Rick?

I know Rick did a mad beat for Jay Z....

well, to people like me....it is rare because it was supposed to be on Brenda K starr's debut album but the whole thing was scraped THUS making it "RARE".
no no no, the song that your refering to and the one me and Miramanee are two seperate things. i did infact get it off the hub but...hmm.. searching for it now. . . its nowhere. rare means its uncommon. and it is indeed uncommon.

as for an lti dvd, sure, y not?

Of course I'd buy it. Especially if She's On It is on it. What a great forgotten Beastie song.

I'd buy it, especially considering I'm a relatively new fan and don't have LTI yet >.>
20th anniversary would definitely sweeten the deal :)

Hopefully it'd sell well with the general public as well, and I think it deserves some sort of 20th anniversary exposure considering what a landmark release it was

Nygel

well....i feel dumb now, after lookin further into it. the so called 'lost mca track' is Circuit II Rock This (take me out)...the very start of it.

i "might" cop it, if only to have all that stuff on an official release.. I already have the "def jam masters" cd and another compilation with rock hard, and that EP stuff on it..

Hopefully the guys will be amenable to putting it out, and won't be afraid of any controversy about content, this being their "crazy" era..

Yo.

Since I already have the original and other B sides suggested already, I woudl be interested in a "Licensed to Re-Mix - 20 Year LTI Anniversary" CD. I would like to see Def Jam hold a huge remix contest of all the LTI songs. The best of each song gets listed on the CD....

there was a 1 minute piece with Run DMC and the Beasties. They rap eachothers names and stuff like "Say hello, to my nello, the king adrock!" and run and dmc rap in it and dmc does his big line that he says before shows, cept he changes it up a bit. It's a promo for the tour. I have it but in bad quality.
