Allright, so my husband and I went out to hear live music last night, something we never do. We ended up listening to Rockabilly music all night. It rocked. Does anyone have any suggestions for good bands to listen to in this genre?

I'm really glad to see that someone here likes Jerry Lee Lewis too.I saw him on Sept. 12 , 2003 at The Florida Theatre . He played a great show as expected. But on that same date , earlier that day both Johnny Cash and actor John Ritter died .That was a double bummer to hear about.

And it would most likely come from me, but I'm all about, or at least used to be about, the 'billy. (y)

Try out some Charlie Feathers, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley (the 50s stuff, that is), Johnny Burnette. (y)
Would Roy Orbison count? Close enough. :p

Lee ROCKER. Brian and him are playing here this week, night after each other. Not that I'm gonna go and see either of them, I've got some issues with them....
The best rockabilly:
Eddie Cochran
Teddy and the Tigers
Melrose
Buddy Holly and the Crickets
oh yeah and Bill Haley and the Comets
Reverend Horton Heat tours a lot

Wiki sez:
"The Stray Cats is a rockabilly band first formed in 1979 by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer with school friends Lee Rocker (born Leon Drucker) and Slim Jim Phantom (born James McDonnell). The group had several hit singles in the U.K. and the U.S. during the early 1980s."
Plus, the liner notes on my compilation also agree on "Drucker."

Looking for this music on CD seems quite a challenge. Makes me wish I owned a turntable.
So far, I have Southern Culture on the Rocks and Stray Cats CDs headed my way.
