Yes well to all those who are baseball fans, tell us your favorite teams and players..Discuss anything about america's pastime here.

For me its the Red Sox (as you may notice) and the Astros...Sox lost tonight to the Yankees and I'm pretty mad cause they almost came back in the 9th. I can't believe 50 year old Al Leiter only gave up 1 run and wakefield gives up 5 runs but still pitches a complete game....

Oh well I think we are still tops in the AL East, but just barely..Its gonna be a close finish between us The Yanks and the Orioles.

It's been a fun season so far all around though

i have always, and will always be a pirates fan, even though we are running on something like 12 straight sub.500 seasons

our management is terrible

I know they suck... or they usually do... but I've got to go with the Tigers. It's just because they're from Michigan and, hey, so am I. Plus I think it has a little something to do with the fact that we used to go to their games once a year when I was younger and I always loved it.

This one girl I used to be interested in/am kind of still interested in/whatever has never been to a baseball game. Not any baseball game in any way, shape, or form. I was going to buy some tickets and take her over to Detroit for her birthday to see the Tigers (they just happened to have a home game right on her birthday) but she had to work that day. I was bummed out. But, it's a good thing I found out before I actually bought the damn things.

i personally am a twins fan, they've won two world series (1987 and 1991) and both with Al Newman (#26). If anyone doesn't know him, you've got to get to know him. He is currently now their 3rd base coach (#62) and cool as hell. He is no Kirby Puckett, but he does have an ass like Kirby's though.

Go Tribe!!!!.....We got a really good young team. I don't get to see many games since I live overseas now but I really dig Victor Martinez, Travis Hafner and Cliff Lee. I think this year we'll sneak into the wild card spot but lose in the 1st round. Next year and the year after though watch out

I read in the paper the other day that Mark Cuban would buy the Bucs if they became available.

It is now time to initiate Operation: Overhaul. Jabumbo, remember, no matter what happens, you must also take out Rosie O'Donnell along with a certain team owner.

I grew up a Dodgers fan, but have since become disgusted with that ball club... have been a Giants fan for several years now, but love baseball in general... I prefer the NL over the AL, but the Red Sox are my favorite AL team (this has been true for many years as well, not just on the bandwagon like the rest of the world)... favorite players? tons of em... I usually get excited for the rookies who are having an extraordinary season or the guys who are consistently good, but never oogled by the press like the typical ones... LOVE baseball in general and can't wait for each and every opening day...

yeah, i just heard about the cuban thing on the radio this morning. that would really help the team because they could afford to get those couple players they need to be decent...

The Few... The Proud... The Mets Fan.

In a state dominated by the Yankees, very few New Yorkers will openly admit to being a Mets fan, but very few Yankee fans know anything about the team prior to 1996.

For all the other Yankee haters out there, everytime you meet a Yankee fan, ask them this...

"Who was the last person to play at least 100 games in a season at shortstop... BEFORE Derek Jeter."

9 times out of 10, they won't even name a player that was a SS.

The Answer is Tony Fernandez.

The Yankees are just the representation in baseball of a power corporation that overruns the smaller, mom and pop businesses by buying all the best players..

Don't have a pitcher because all yours are injured? Ok let's buy Al Leiter to pitch the next day against Boston..

To me it's BS how the Yankees win championships with $$ and dont even talk to me about A-Rod and Sheffield...I think sheffield is one of the most arrogant players I've ever seen and just continues the line of Yankee snobs like Reggie Jackson

So Yankees when you find yourselves looking up at the end of the season to the Red Sox in the AL East, you can try to do what you do best, buy more talent, but seeing as how you havent won a WS in the last 5 years, I doubt it will work anymore.

That is one aspect that I have to disagree with.

The last time the Yankees won the series (2000) their postseason team payroll was $84 milllion. They have almost tripled it in the last 5 years, and have 0 championships to show for it.

So in theory, all that they have "bought" are a couple of close calls.

The thing I love is is that the Yankees had the worst first half they could possibly have and yet right now they're 1/2 game behind the Sox. Only one team is going to make it out of the AL East, and if history says anything, the Red Sox will be the odd team out.

What team is number 2 and far ahead of number 3? If the Sox had the ability, they'd spend as much as the Yankees -- hell the Pirates would, too. I don't begrudge the Yankees their payroll, and as BigBlue said, it hasn't bought a championship in a while. I just wish my San Francisco Giants had signed Vlad last year to play with/replace Barry Bonds.

The White Sox might make the playoffs but I expect a folderooski in the playoffs. We'll see, but I think the Angels are the class of the AL. The Cards in the NL.

My favorite players of all time = Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson, Barry Bonds -- players who backed up their talk/arrogance.

I have a dream to become a professional baseball player. Baseball is my favorite sport. I have played three seasons in a row.

My environment would be to play in many stadiums. The stadiums would either have turf or grass with dirt.

Some of my responsibilities would be not to lose any of my equipment. I would have to be at the stadium early to get ready to play. I would have to know what stadium to go to.

My attire would be a jersey, gray or white. Gray if your going to a stadium. White if your at your home park. You would also have to wear cleats. When your batting, you need a helmet and if you want to wear a batting glove you can. Some of my equipment would be a bat, a mitt, and a baseball cap.

Some of the qualifications of a professional baseball player would be to be a good sport and to get a college degree. You also need to be talented as well as knowledgeable of the rules of baseball.

Some of the things I would like are winning the World Series, getting the position I like, right field, or to play in the outfield.

Here are some things I would not like. I would not like being on the worst team in the world or not winning the World Series when the team I’m playing for is already there. I would also not like when I don’t get a position in the infield.

Some of the advantages of a professional baseball player would be to be able to bat at least once a game. Another advantage is hitting homers, maybe even a couple in a season. I would like getting to field the ball.

There are also some disadvantages. I would have to play almost every day. Sometimes there would be team fights with both teams. The games can sometimes run very long, like three hours. Plus, if you have to go extra innings, that can become horrible.

In my future, I would like to drive a Saturn to my games. I will live in Cleveland. I want to have two dogs, a Golden Retriever and the fastest dog, a greyhound. I am going to live in a white colored house with a black fence. I will be single while I’m playing baseball. I will sign autographs and make a couple million dollars.

That is my dream for the future.

And no matter how hard I try I can't understand this game.

paulb once tried to explain me the rules and stuff. And I lied saying I had understanded it. :(
