I don't think Michael Caine ever got the respect he deserved, even at the height of his career.
Caine is a don. (y)
Jeremy Piven and the rest of the cast of entourage...

I forgot to mention Rob Sneider too, he's the master mind behind the brilliance.
I saw him one night on Rush Street (big touristy club and bar spot here in Chicago) about three years ago. You would swear he had won an Oscar the way the little arrogant prick acted. What a dick.
I met John Leguizamo at Oak Street Beach with his wife and his kids. Real nice guy he is.

Anyone seen The Cooler? Macy gets his hairy, wrinkly bum out about 5 times. It's bollocks.

Don Cheadle
I would agree with this completely if Hotel Rwanda had not come out. He really came into his own with a Best Actor Nomination for that one. He's definitely A-list now.
But I remember him in Devil With A Blue Dress with Denzel Washington way back in, like, '92 or '93. He was great in that movie but it took forever before anyone knew who the fuck he was.

well, yea, but its better they stay B-list actors and arent succumbed into selling out later on. although leguizamo annoys me, ribisi depends on which film it is.
mark ruffalo id say is a great example of this, off the top of my head

I dunno. There was some PC tokenism going on with that nomination, I'm thinking. If someone really wanted to recognize him, they should've given him Out of Sight.

i was referring to actors in general...hollywood productions could never compare to small name movies

i saw Ruffalo in his breakout stage performance in "This is Our Youth" off- Broadway...
it was written by Ken Lonergan, who wrote and directed "You Can Count on Me" (he also played the priest.)
I've been hooked on Mark ever since...

I agree with that one hundred percent. When I still had cable my TV stayed on IFC (Independent Film Channel). There are so many good fuckin movies that the majority of people will never know about because there is no major studio pouring 75 million dollars into making sure that every avenue of communication on the planet is saturated with ads for their up coming movie.

I recognize all kinds of great actors in small parts in movies (mostly foreign ones) but I can't ever remember their names. :o
There are also lots of actors like Tom Skerritt and Yaphet Kotto who are fabulous when they get a good part but they take so many really bad parts in really bad movies that you can't really recommend them. In fact, the whole crew of Alien was underrated. I'd be hard pressed to think of an action movie with more talent per capita.
I used to love Jonathan Pryce. Campbell Scott is always interesting. And I will always worship Judy Davis.

Patricia Clarkson
Andy Garcia
Rene Russo
Steve Buscemi (although maybe since Fargo, he's been noticed more)
John C. McGinley (from an awards perspective, he's the male Susan Lucci)
Eric Stoltz
I hate to say this, but I like the way Steve van Zandt portrays Silvio on the Sopranos.
And I like the way Peter Krause portrays Nate in Six Feet Under. I was a fan Sports Night and his character there was similar to SFU's Nate. I want to see him in some other roles to see if he has breadth. But I like him.
(I know a guy in real life who IS Nate from Six Feet Under. Looks like him head to toe, gestures like him, reacts/acts like him--everything is the same. It's fascinating but spooky at the same time.)

Speaking of real dick celebrities. We ran into Stedman, Oprah's man, in Time Square and he wouldn't let us take his picture. He was like, "I'll tell Oprah you guys said hi." I'm sure you will, buddy. And Judge Judy is a bitch, too. She wouldn't let anyone take pictures with her.
The fans are the reason why these people are where they are in life. I just feel that it goes with the territory of being a celebrity.
