so you see, this friend of mine wants to take me to get a tattoo. tattoos arent really my thing, you see, so i dismissed it.

but it kinda got me thinking, while tattoos arent really my thing, maybe i should get one. like, something that means something. granted, theres a chance it wont be meaningful to me for very long, but whatever.

so i've been searching for symbols and pictures and things that would be meaningful to me. i kinda found this symbol thats related to syndicalism, and the workers movement, and the IWW and all that shit. and i like that. im down wit dat shit. but you see, its this black cat. and the more i look at it, the more i'm pretty sure its just a halloween decoration. and i wasnt too crazy about the design anyway. here, i'll link you:

http://www.anarchosyndicalism.net/images/logos/sabcat.gif.

yeah, total frickin halloween eh? yeah, thats kinda out. i'm still considering it though... the good thing about it, is that if i ever change my mind and dont agree with what it symbolizes, i can always just say its a halloween tattoo, or something to that extent.

anyway. where do you think a cool place for a tattoo would be? i'm thinking maybe on my forearm, kinda under my wrist. you know, while im shootin niggas the black power sign, they'll be all "shit, that niggas got a cat on his forearm". yeah. sweet.

another idea, which me and that qdrop faggot brainstormed (i'm internet friends with qrop?!??!?!?? jesus christ, that revelation just hit me. goddamn). you see, its a black power fist, and in it, theres a kkk guy being lynched. and under it it says "FUKKK THA KKK!". another idea is getting my entire epidermis tattooed black. or maybe i just shouldn't get one.

discuss tattoos here or something. recommendations accepted here. most likely they will suck, and i will dismiss them though.

ME and my pops are getting tats for ma birthday, which means I have to be thinking about it now.

it does make me think of halloween. Sorry :/

I definitely think if you get one, it should mean something. I tend to like tattoos on guys shoulder/back area if you know what I mean. But I am awful at tattoo recommendations period, type or placement. So I will shut up now.

if you're not sure about it make sure it's put somewhere you can cover up easily.

maybe do something family related? do some research on your family crest or something like that.

never get names of lovers, wives or any one else you've ever had sex with.

ok that's about it. go get inked.

Get something that means something to you, so you won't feel like a douche when you're 80 for having a skull with a snake through the eyesockets.

My name means "Goddess of the Moon" so if I were ever to get a tat, it'd be a small blue moon on my upper shoulder, or on my ankle.

You should get the Steve-O (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/RobMoney004/steve-o.jpg) Tattoo on your backpiece. That would be cool.

Just don't get the "in" tattoo, Nautical Stars (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/RobMoney004/nautical20star20arm.jpg) are the new "tribal bands around your bicep".

Given that, maybe you want to think about it hard for a week or two before you do it. (Maybe don't spend that week or two researching which tattoo you want. Think about spending that time figuring out if you do actually want one. Because it sounds to me like you are thinking of it but don't really know why you are.)

Don't get a tat unless YOU want to. Don't get one because someone said it would be cool. You could end up regretting it. Plus getting one removed is double the pain, and anywhere from twice to ten times the expence of having one put on.

not to mention 10x the cost.
And do they really ever go away? The x-tatoos that I've seen leave a nasty looking scar, which, ironically, some people think is still just the tatoo, just a bad one.

Mot
07-19-2005, 08:28 AM
It depends on the color, and type of pigment, and also how deep it is. A professional tat should only go into the middle layers, homemade ones usually go deeper, and take more sessions to remove, thus causing more scarring.

I saw this SNL skip they did on trendy tattoos (low back art, tribal bands....etc) and they showed what they would look like old with a back tattoo sagging and the arm tattoo giggling off the arm......good shit !

So funny. I think they morphed a lower-back tattoo from saying SEXY (on a youngish woman) to saying SAD on, presumably, the same woman as she aged.

It was a fake ad for acid-based tattoo removal cream. :D

erm... not for nothing, but it looks to me like what you said is that "it's not really [your] thing" but that "maybe [you] should get one" anyway?

And then said that even though this thing isn't really your thing but that you think you should maybe get put permanently on your body is something that won't be all that meaningful really? but whatever?

Is there some other way to read that paragraph? Cuz if you think what is you said is "I thought about it deeply and have weighed and balanced the pros and cons, and after finding a design that I feel really says something about who I am I am moved to do it," I gotta say, I didn't see that.

yeah, not really. its not my fault my hair is naturally fabulous. you see, all i do with it is wash it every day, i could care less about styling it, or even having hair. while you obviously spend good time and money on your hair, getting it dyed, styling it, etc etc. so i think you win more in the "im a loser metrosexual" stakes, while i get all the "naturally gifted" points. potatohead.

a lot of my friends have tattoos and i think they're all shit. i've only ever seen a few tats that are really interesting and that i actually like. wait on it. for at least a year. if you still think you can live with it for the rest of your life after that long, then go for it. but personally, i'm not sure enough of anything that i would want on my skin forever.

i do want one thing, but it's far too expensive and i probably would wuss out anyway. i'd want the japanese tsunami design going over both arms and around my back. yeah, not going to happen.

Yeah, but everybody knows that Q has the grammatical dexterity of a mentally retarded chimpanzee. We've all known this for months! Why would you just so happen to bring it up now, huh? Huh? Answer me, bitch!

Don't worry, Q, I got'cha back.

and your photography is any better?

see, we can do this all day...getting progressively more rude and trite...
or you could just back down.

feel free to correct my spelling though, my little secretary.
whoa, jeez. you probably haven't even seen my photography. your use of the english language on a messageboard probably isn't something you take as seriously as i took photography, so that's kind of a stretch to insult me based on that.

i wasn't trying to insult you personally. Mae's right. i can't stand bad grammar or spelling. that's all it is. i meant nothing against you as a person. calm your ass down.

It depends on the color, and type of pigment, and also how deep it is. A professional tat should only go into the middle layers, homemade ones usually go deeper, and take more sessions to remove, thus causing more scarring.

uh dude it's the other way around. Professional tattoos tend to be harder to remove because they use alot MORE ink (professional guns push more ink ito the skin) and that makes them harder to breakdown. Homemade tats are NOT deeper, and usually use LESS ink, making them easier to remove.

has anyone here ever gotten a tat removed? I have one on my stomach that I was considering getting removed...but I hear it hurts more to get it off than to get it on. . .

Try this : Get naked , hop in and out of the shower , then roll around in a big pile of comic books ! If your lucky , you might have some hulks on your nads , a thing on your ding a ling , and some spidermans on your pecs !And if you dont like the results , scrub the shit off and repeat again ! :D

INCORRECT!
A professional tattooer has more control over a professional gun and needle, an amateur tattooer with a homeade gun has no control. A professional tattoo goes through between 3 and 5 layers of skin, (about the width of a dime). This actually takes years to master. Homade ones almost alway go deeper, completly through all 7 layers of skin, this causes them to "bleed" or leach out making them become blury. I have both kinds, and have spoken to many, many people who have had them removed. Homade ones in fact are so hard to remove that most removals can take up to 10 sessions or more and then they still will not promise that the homade tat will be completely gone, and serious scaring can result. It's not the amount of ink involved, it's how deep the ink is, and with a home made gun or a bare needle there is no control over the depth.
