View Full Version : if you weren't here, where would you be? (it's not as deep a question as it sounds.)

Next term when I'm teaching, I know that I'll have to give something up.
It'll either be the teaching, serious reading, exercising, or BBMBing.
You figure out which one will take the fall. :)
What would you be doing right now if you weren't here?
What have you given up or changed to afford the time to be here?
Slight tangent: if you tried to give this place up and couldn't or couldn't do it completely, what happened? How long were you gone & what brought you back?
To answer my own question, I know that casual reading went by the wayside for me in the last few months. By casual reading, I mean the reading I used do while I waited for something else to happen or for someone to swing by so that we could go out. I always have a book on me--while I was waiting for someone/something, I read it. I don't do that now. Now, I sit with my laptop most times when I'm waiting for someone to come or something to happen. My friends laugh over that.

My coursework was suffering because I was spending far too much time here. Hey, I had a computer with internet access at the foot of my bed, what was I supposed to do? :p
I had myself deleted, yeah it was kinda gay, but it meant that I concentrated on my work more and got a passing grade so I acheived what I set out to do.
I came back about 4 months later when the workload had settled down a bit, and now this place is kinda shit, so it's not as hard to avoid it.

It's true.
She really is :(
4.5 weeks of work left, then I can spend even more time here.

I don't talk to my sister as much now that I'm here.
But I think that would have happened anyway (whether/not I was here).

I'd be lying on my bed, watching python DVD's.

I can't believe you're going to stop reading and excercising just so you can spend more time with us.
What would you be doing right now if you weren't here?
I'd be doing actual work. Still sitting here, though.
What have you given up or changed to afford the time to be here?
Getting actual work done. But then, I'd probably still be exploring the internet anyway.

I've stepped away for a couple days, or a week at a time. When you come back, it's like everything's so different, yet, nothing's really changed.

I love you guys this much. *spreads arms*
I'd still be at work - probably a bit more productive, but my being on here the past 8 months has not changed where I would be or what I would be doing...
If I had NEVER come to bb.com, I'd probably still be in a shitty marriage, but wealthy and care-free (except for being a nun)...

I hope your elbows touched when you did that, or it's seriously not enough.

enree, i don't think you have to give anything up to be here... there's no reason to spend hours a day here - you could easily "stay active" (double entendre :D ) and just come by for a bit every day...

I'd actually be working... at work.

Right now, I'm 95% okay with the amount of time that I'm here given that we're in the middle of the Summer term. Come Fall, though, it'll have to change (back to what it was during the Spring term).
I just read stories about how people try to get out but the boards keep pulling them back in. :)

i usually just come here when i am wasting time onlne. so it usually runs hand in hand with the time i spend on the computer anyway.
if i wasn't coming here, i would be playing yahoo pool and mah jong solitaire a whole lot more. and i would probably play online multiplayer computer games more often too.

This place has definitely become a habit now. But it's a nice habit :) It's the first place i click on when i come online.
I've never tried to stop coming on here. I'm not sick of you lot just yet ;)
As for me changing/giving up stuff to come on here...I don't think i've done that. I suppose i just get square eyes from looking at a monitor instead of watching hours of dumb TV.
If/when i'm not on here i'm usually out and about with friends, working, curled up reading a good book (current reading: Perfume by Patrick Suskind and 'Salems Lot by Stephen King) or stretched out on the sofa watching dvd's.

If I wasn't here right now...I would be or should be packing all my stuff up getting ready to move. Or doing laundry or something really boring like that.
I'm able to walk away from this board for long periods of time and I usually come back when I'm sitting around the house and looking for something to do to keep me occupied. Plus, this board is very entertaining to me. It's cool to communicate with different people other than the one's that you see everyday and it's usually the same ole stuff with them. However, I will admitt that once I'm on...it does suck me in and sometimes it's hard to get off and I become a message board junkie. Why not? It's fun though, right?

I spend the most time here when I'm at work. Hopefully that will change soon though cus I asked my Chief if I could move shops. Hopefully they are sending me over to training and I'll be teaching various classes all day which I'm really excited about.
I would probably get more sleep if I didn't come here. I usually check in before bed like right now. It gets dead in the evening (my time) but then picks up at night when all the US people are at work so I wind up staying up too late on here.

Only at work and before bedtime, huh? So, basically your saying that the only time you're not on here is when you're eatting dinner. Well, also during the times that your busy answering your phone because I keep calling you. :D
And I am just playing with you...this is just my way of messin' with ya.

Wait I don't get it, is that what you'd be doing if you weren't here?
