...my rent deposit refund from my former apartment. Landlady did the walk-through, told me she'd get the check out right away... three weeks ago (the time limit in California). Still no check.
I've left phone messages. Then called a friend of theirs to see if they're okay, since three messages over a period of eight days have received no reply.
THEY'RE ON A FUCKING CRUISE.
I don't get paid until July 29th -- payday is once a month here.
I have roughly $3 left until then.
FUCK.
I hope their accountant mailed a check. She's in their office on Mondays, so maybe there's a check in my mailbox today.
FUCK.
So why wouldn't the accountant have at least returned my calls?
Fuck.
I know that not all rich people are like this, but there's a weird disconnect that rich folks sometimes have with OTHER people's money.
Fuck. Canned tuna it is, I guess.
Fuck.

Sorry to hear that David. A lot of rich people suck, not all.....just some.

Report it to the city. Feel better. Give them a taste of their own medicine. Fines are fun!

Yeah, I know; it's just... I'm frustrated, and I don't understand the mentality that just doesn't think of others' needs.

I doubt that I will, but we'll see.
Within three weeks, they're supposed to supply a refund plus itemization of whatever was deducted. I don't know if that means a refund must be received within three weeks (which is today) or must be postmarked within three weeks (more likely). I just hate having no money. I feel a little constrained.

Thats why you have to focus it on them and have them feel the pinch. Even if you did move out. If not, you keep all the negative energy to yourself and never have the satisfaction that you did something back.
Nothing better then coming back from a relaxing cruise to see a notice from the city/county for a violation.
Its your money.

is it just me, or is this the first time i've seen a-z use a naughty word?

That's awful!
A couple of years ago, I casually said something to a coworker about how I was glad that the upcoming Friday was a payday. She said, "it is?" And I said, "you don't know?" She said, "well the money just goes in the bank and it's not like it matters when that happens."
I got paid every other week so the first paycheck of the month was housing payment and the second was car and student loan payment. And then there were the magical two times a year when there were three pay periods in the same month when I might get my car repaired or something! I would count the pay periods out ahead on the calendar to know when the next "extra" one was coming! It's easier for me now, but I still care when I get paid (tonight at midnight! :))

I think I'd rather see what refund I get first rather than piss them off and inspire a microscopic inventory of every dust ball I left behind.
Cleaning up all the nicotine stains was a definite motivator in getting me to quit smoking, though, so that's good. I just never, ever want to have to clean up that shit again.

Might be the first time you've seen me use one, but I've used bad words on here before.
I used to have a mouth like an angry, drunken sailor with Tourette's, so, you know. I'm getting better.

Yup. This is how I've lived for God knows how long. This new job should change that if I don't go nuts with all the extra money. (y)

So sorry that's happening to you.
Maybe look in the quarters section of your knapsack. Miracles, you know?

You didn't ask, but I recommend that after doing a few nice things with your new place or whatever, you get something set up so that some of the extra money goes straight into a savings account. I have my old salary put in my checking account and the difference put in a savings account at a different bank which is difficult to access. Sometimes I go and get the money out of savings but most of the time I forget all about it and I live on what I used to make instead. And eventually, the savings money adds up and I take a trip. ;)

Yup. I have a coupon from a bank which says that if I open a $100 account, they toss in $50 for free. (It was included in a moving kit.) (y)
I've got 401(k) contributions set up, too.
So sorry that's happening to you.

...I've already run through them. That was an extra six bucks I didn't know I had.

There are pretty strict renters' laws in each city. I'm not familiar with Emeryville -- is that your old city -- or was it Berkeley? If it was Berkeley, your old landlords will probably have to give a peace offering once they pay you plus a penalty or neve be able to rent again.
Anyway, go on line to your old city's webpage, and look up the renter's law. I learned a great deal when I had problems with my last landlord, and it helped me avoid conflict.
Tuna's not so bad, as long as you're not pregnant.

It still sucks.

I have a stash of bad CDs that I keep around for emergencies just like that.
I'm halfway serious. Some of them were gifts. Most were purchases that I made just to get a song for a project.
I keep them around in case I need them again some day. Mostly, though, when I see that stash, what comes to mind...the hours of the CD Trader.
Hope you're not tuna'd out yet.

Haven't had to resort to canned tuna just yet.
*crosses fingers*
Canned tuna ain't bad, but it's now way to subsist. :D
