View Full Version : car trouble

So my transmission is skipping slightly when it shifts from second to third gear. It's not real bad now, but with transmissions, the trouble is always progressive. I checked the fluid and it's not low. I had the diagnostics thingy ran, and the computer just read some really vague shit that the guys running the test couldn't even explain. (A ploy to make sure that you have to go back to the dealership mechanics to have any serious work done.) I'm hoping it could be a cylanoid. And since that is about as much as I know about transmissions, the odds of me taking it somewhere and having someone not try to sucker me into a whole new transmission is slim to none.
Anybody have some advice?

I'm no mechanic, but you might wanna check the transmission fluid, if it has a dipstick, and make sure it's not brown. It should be clear and reddish. There could also be problems with the vacuum modulator/line if it's slipping. Wait, you said skipping. We ARE talking about an automatic, right?

slipping, skipping, meh. Whatever. I don't think it's the fluid. I'm looking for the codes now. Thanks, O. (y)
