the best song by the Who, from the best album by the Who. It has all the elements to be also, one of the top 10 best Rock and Roll songs ever recorded.

Now I have 2 songs in my top 10 best Rock and Roll songs list which shall never change.

Jumpin' Jack Flash-------- The Rolling Stones
Behind Blue Eyes----------The Who

Who's Next is their best album, but Behind Blue Eyes as their best song? Hmmm...nope. I'm with Droppin'. I'm a Won't Get Fooled Again kinda gal.

Baba O'Riley
(y)

I used to love Behind Blue Eyes to an enormous degree. Well then there was the year where I watched General Hospital during high school. And Behind Blue Eyes became the theme song for one of the major characters who was doing this whole criminal, misunderstood guy story line. I think his name was Scotty. Ruined the song for me. Forever.

CSI ruined Who Are You for me.

After hearing Limp Bizkit's version of 'Behind Blue Eyes', The Who's version of it sounds like the greatest song ever recorded in the history of mankind.

Behind Blue Eyes is a great song, but it's kinda... um... puerile, innit?

Still, I dig it. Bang-for-buck award goes to "Bargain," and "My Wife."

I'm also a Baba O'Riley type of Who fan, but my second favorite is Bargain.

No one bites back as hard

On their anger

None of my pain and woe

Can show through

The above lyrics and the image of Pete doing furious windmills while Rogers tosses the mike over the front rows, plus direct from outer space a Keith Moon Freakout. It meets the criteria because it is the epitome of what the Who can do, too short to be an anthem, it just doesn't collect moss IMHO.

The only drawback is it has been (for obvious reasons, it's fuckin' great!)overplayed. Daltry's vocals and everything else about that song sparkles....1971 (http://rateyourmusic.com/lists/list_view/list_id_is_4021) kicked some serious ass.

i think 'i don't mind' from 'sings my generation' is superior to behind blue eyes. and bab riley is the best song on who's next.

The best Who tracks for me have to start with the awesome "Who are you?" followed by "5:15" then "Success story". I had the pleasure of watching them perform at last years Isle od Wight festival, and I can safely say they kicked ass! :D
