Rivers Cuomo is the dictionary definition of the word spastic (get it together denverchick78).

For me, a rock star is someone who not just entertains me but who gets into me
and makes me remember him not just for the music, but for the way he is
or for what he does that maybe isn't necessarily related to music.

Bob Dylan. For the obvious reasons and because he doesn't seem
to think that he's all that. Even after all of this. (But maybe he does and
he just hides it well. In that interview that aired last November, he just
seemed real to me.)

Beasties. They're talented; they have longevity and appeal; they play
their own instruments. I like that so many of their songs have positive
lyrics. I like that they have fun; they're comfortable with each other and us.
I love the things they do to bring about positive changes in the world.

Zack de la Rocha. Again, for obvious reasons but also just for this
quality that he has outside of all of that anger and angst. He has
something--it draws me in and keeps me there. I miss him.

John Lennon. I liked the honesty in his music. I liked the way he walked around, you know?
He seemed to see himself as a regular kind of guy.
I hate that he didn't get to finish things in the right way.

Sheryl Crow. I don't know anything about her and her life, but I like
her music and her guitar playing. Plus, I like that she's sexy and beautiful
and she doesn't try to convince you of that every time she's out there.

Bonnie Raitt. I don't know anything about her life, but I love the way
she seems (laid back, easy going) and she's a great guitar player. So
underrated with the general public.

Johnny Lang. He is damn easy on the eyes. Also, because he's young
and has so much road in front of him, we'll get to watch him grow and
change and form himself. I can hardly wait to see what he does next.

Robben Ford, Richard Thompson. Maybe they're not rock stars
because they're not arena guys. Maybe that's by design. With RT, it's the
eloquence and ease of his lyrics and the stories he tells in his songs;
the timbre of his voice; that his guitar is that far from being an extension of him.
With RF, it's a treat to watch him play--he has this indescribable way about him
and I love to look at it--sometimes I find that my eyes are trained on him
and that I'm not listening to his playing. He's unassuming; he's a nice guy;
he's amazing on guitar. He needs to get himself out of California
and over to my neck of the woods more often because
when it comes to him, I'm not a patient person.

Mick and Keith in their heyday for sure. And the fact that people even halfway care today shows how large they loomed.

Also David Lee Roth circa late 70s, early 80s. I was never a huge fan, but that man knew how to work the Rock Star thing. His interviews were always entertaining and I STILL remember some of his lines.

Screw that half-wit, drugged-up, GnR-stealing cunt! His post-89 shittyness brings down what could have been a potentially interesting group.

The best rock star, by the way, was Robert Plant. I'd like to see any of your chaps try to strut the tight denim like he did.

I'd have to say that Mark Oliver Everett (aka 'E') is my current favorite rock star (both for character and musical qualities). He's the guy from The Eels.

In defense of Rivers, 'Pinkerton' was an incredible album. You can't deny his writing abilities, even if he does tend toward writing pop songs.

He still has it, vocally at least. I heard one of the new tracks, a ballad, off of the upcoming album and I was amazed how good his voice still was.

Of course, I'm speaking from a biased point of view though I guess.

And as far as his looks are concerned, Mick is still getting models the last I checked. He's always been an odd looking dude, but it's never held him back.

Just look at their stuff...Fluff for the most part and nothing spectacular.
come again? how is it fluff? Maybe you don't happen to like them, fair enough but don't go around saying he is overrated which means that you think everyone should not like him as much as you do. Same goes for all the people who sa the beatles are overrated. Fair enough if you don't like them but look at how influencial they were? They changed the whole music scene. You'd be hard pushed to find any music that hasn't been influenced by them post 69
