This was an early 90s Cary Elwes Alicia Silverstone flick about an intense teenaged girl getting violent over her obsession for an older man. It's fun. Anyway, what bothered me was that I once rented it and I know Silverstone's character's name was Darian, and that's what it lists on IMDB. But I have seen this movie on TV since then and in the TV version her name is Adrienne. The movie is the same but everyone is saying her name differently. Do you think that was just to make a distinction between the edited version? I've never heard of any movies doing this, it seems like a pointless change and kind of a strange one. I don't get why this was done.

Before the theater I work at was built, there was only a small theater near where I live. They played this movie instead of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 which nearly ruined my childhood.

Mario Van Peebles was in Jaws 4? I might have to see it now.

I remember watching Halloween on TV one time and it's completely different from the version I know. The plot and characters and deaths are the same, but there are extra scenes inserted in.

I guess they filmed the extra scenes during Halloween 2 because NBC had to edit out a lot to show it on TV, and the edited version was too short. So these scenes were filmed as filler pretty much.

Still, it pisses me off.

Ive noticed similar things with other movies.

When i was little I LOVED the movie "Gleaming the Cube" It was my favorite movie EVER.

When i got older I had forgotten about it. then one day I was going through the TV Guide and noticed a movie called "My Brother's Honor" and I was reading the description...it sounded exactly like my old favorite!

Sure enough, that night, i turned on the channel and there it was. Christian Slater in alll his Skateboarding glory, bu with a Different name. I never understood it!

That is weird. The only time I've seen that is when the movie was released in other countries, and they decided a different name would work better for a different culture.

I just looked it up a little. Oddly it was also, at different times for reasons I don't know, titled Brother's Justice and Skate or Die.

But TMNT3 was terrible! I love the first one, even the 2nd was watchable despite Go Ninja Go Ninja Go, but I'd say The Crush is better than the third turtles movie where they travel through freaking time.

But when you're a seven year old kid who doesn't want to give up on the Turtles, you get a little pissed that the guy from the Princess Bride is taking over for ass kicking turtles.

Oh hey, heh, check out what I just found.

"When the movie was edited for TV, Alicia Silverstone's character's name changed from Darian to Adrian. Screenwriter Alan Shapiro had based the film on actual events that happened to him and ended up being sued by the girl he wrote about, who had the same name as his "fictional" character.

Although the main character's name is changed in the second version of the film including in the end credits, "Darian" (the original name) still appears on the letters she sends to Nick at the end of the film."

What about when you try to buy a CD of old music like old motown or something like that, and you don't look closely enough to the details so later you find out it's a different recording than the one you expected. I hate that. It happens all the time because those record companies would make various recordings, live/radio/later/remastered/studio and even change the backup singers and music.

I've never noticed it, not that I watchg The Crush all that often.

I do notice that whenever they play Naked Gun on broadcast TV they insert all of the deleted scenes, like at the end when The guy from Fantasy Island shoots Leslie Neilsen in the chest protector, and it deflates like a balloon.

In the cut version the chest protector just goes from normal to defalted.

Don't Tell Her It's Me with Steve Guttenburg and Shelley Long used to be The Boyfriend School or something like that.

But did anyone notice the change? Long and The Gutes, that's a dynamic duo.

I do believe that I'm the only person who saw this film in the entire world, so it bums me out that they didn't ask for my input on the name change issue. I think Kerri Gertz (if that's her name) was the leading lady in that one. She's very funny. You know, the chic from Quicksilver .

I figured it would be something like that.

Gleaming the Cube, is just such a bad name for a movie. It sounds like some difficult to understand indie film. Whereas you know what you're getting with Skate or Die. You made me look it up. :o Turns out that Gleaming the Cube was written by the guy who wrote The Player. Wow. (Although does anybody really write an Altman film?)

yeah, ya know...back in the height of Julia roberts popularity( the mid/late 90's) they showed the movie "Satisfaction" on tv but they changed the title to "Girls of Summer" and put julia's picture all big in the tv guide. "Julia Roberts stars in Girls of Summer!" I found this to be rather funny because julia really only has a supporting role in the movie and actually justine Bateman was the star. I also have no Idea why they changed the title for tv.

In the european version of Demolition Man all of the Taco Bell references are replaced with Pizza Hut. I noticed it because of the lousy lip sync.

We don't have Taco Bell here but we have Pizza Hut so they got some extra cash from changing the movie.

Not a major plot change though...
