View Full Version : What do you fear?

What seriously frightens you? I'm not talking about scary movies or that junk, I mean what causes you to be emotionally disturbed and afraid for your life?

I think fear is an interesting emotion. Plus, i want to see what different kinds of people are araid of.

I am afraid of bugs. Any kind of bugs gives me serious shivers down my spine, especially spiders, praying mantii, wasps/bees, and those bugs that look like sticks. Just typing this gives me the shakes. Gross.

I'm also afraid of icebergs. :(

Sharks and other underwater Creatures.
When I was a kid, kelp wrapping around my feet made me scream in terror. I mean picture a kid absolutely sure they were going to die, screaming bloody murder. :(

Flying. Which is so crap, because I so love traveling. So I do it. But I white-knuckle it the whole time.

I just bought this fear-of-flying hypnotherapy cd thing today and I'm supposed to listen to it like every day between now and my trip.

Plus I'm gonna hit my doctor up for some good drugs, I think.

Otherwise this 11-hour flight to Tokyo is gonna suck ass.

On a drive home from a west suburb of Chicago one night last Sunday I stopped at a rest stop to use the bathroom to change from a skirt into sweat pants. It was almost 1 AM and the rest stop was empty except a few rigs in the parking lot and maybe three cars in the lot. In the bathroom, at the end of the row of stalls, in the handicap stall, someone was there I could hear soe movement and sense their presence. I started changing and what have you but all I ever heard from the stall was some slight rustling and I thought any second that person (man or woman) was going to emerge and come towards the door to my stall with a knife or gun or something. I was terrified and got out as soon as possible.

I drive all over the state at strange hours -- usually super early in the morning. I HATE using rest stops before 8 a.m.

Swimming in the Ocean. Something about not being able to see whats under me, creeps me the fuck out.

Public restrooms give me the oogies too.

i have recurring nightmares of elevators...getting stuck, or them plummeting to earth from really high while i am in them...hate elevators. i really wish i could use the stairs at work, but they are alarmed...i would so walk up the 13 flights.

the only time i'm really scared is when my daughter is in danger. my heart starts beating real fast and i can feel the adrenaline rushing to every part of my body. every other fear of mine does not produce this reaction.

Seriously ? Blindness. If I absolutely had to, I'd choose loss of hearing or the ability to walk , before loss of eye sight . I honestly think that blind people are the most courageous and bravest out of all of us.

i hate the ocean

i don't get why anyone would go swimming if they didn't have to, it's totally unnecessary.

i'm not a huge fan of the dark either.

I am the same almost. It's weird though - first time I flew it was like a religious experience. I loved it so much. But barely six years later it fills me with some measure of dread. Funnily, I hate the home flight worse than the outward flight

I also hate flying at night. Somehow the thought of tumbling through a black void is scarier than watching the ground come up to meet me.

i used to love flying, but then i did it so often that i got to just sort of accept it begrudgingly. i do like airports though. they're little worlds of their own.

I'm not scared of heights, but I'm scared of falling in itself. Even playing video games, if the character is on a platform and it's possible to fall of my knees get weak and I feel sick to my stomach.

I can't swim real well, so drowning would probably be likely if I got into deep water. I don't really feel like drowing. Getting strangled, fine. Drowning? Not so much.
