I've already told you...cider is the way to go. Look for Sam Adams cider if you're at a restraunt. If you go to a liquor store then K or Hornsby's. Also, I once had a really good strawberry beer, but I don't remember what it was called. :/

boags (http://www.boags.com.au/Files/00047_OurBeers.asp?flash=true&) is the best beer in the world.
it's been scientifically proven. i don't know if you can get it over there.

cascade is the other tasmanian beer. it is almost just as good.

oh right...a reason to try samadams. let's see...

well every year, the ceo of the company heads over to europe to hand pick the hops for that particular season...and every year he brings them back to the U.S. in a suitcase that he has to have checked through customs. the only propblem is that hops have the exact same look to them as weed, so you can imagine the hijinx that ensue.

careful packing i guess? and you could always try to send it in a jug or something instead of bottles...

as far as lasting, it depends on how long the shipping would take, and what kind of aging time the beer has. i know most american brews have more preservatives in them so they will last longer, but that also takes away on some of the flavor, so its not something that you want to add if you can help it

It takes a few days end to end.

You won't be able to send beer in the mail internationally though, I think. I'm pretty sure it's against the law.

Okay heres a few beers, I'll start with Australian because I am more qualified on that topic. Plus we have some of the best beers in the world.

Boags Premium:
Probably the best Australian beer going around (except for some microbrewed stuff thats expensive as).
Boags St George:
You wont be able to get this outside tasmania, other than at my dads bottleshop because we are the only one who has it outside of tassie for some reason. Slightly citric, corona style except a bit more expensive and a bit better in my opinion.
Boags Draught:
Probably the best draught beer in Australia by a fair bit.
Cascade premium:
Very tasty but slightly behind boags i reckon
Cascade 4 seasons:
Limited release, all of the beer in this series are good but I particularly like the summer blonde
Cascade draught: only just started being available outside tassie, pretty good but once again just behind boags
Carlton Draught: I maintain that the carlton draught on tap at the Radisson hotel in melbourne is possibly the best beer I've ever tasted. Usually its just an average beer.
Coopers: The pale ale is a great tap beer, and the sparkling is awesome out of the bottle (its bottle fermented so theres a whole technique to drinking it where you have to role it first to make sure theres no sediment)
Beez Neez: My mates bag me for liking a beer with honey in it but I reckon its interesting (y)
International beers
Leffe: Man everything about these beers, especially the radieuse one, is good. Right from the smell!
Carlsberg Elephant: Strong, tasty beer. Basically a strong ass carlsberg.
Becks: Cheap, easy to drink, little after taste
Corona/Cantina/ any light cerveza style beer: pretty much all taste the same so if you have had corona dont bother with the other ones i reckon thats about as good as you can get unless you can get some boags st george.

My favorites are Yuengling and Tucher (http://www.tucher-usa.com/new_page_5.htm). Tucher is a Heffewisen and is yummy with a squeeze of lemon. Yuengling is not available everywhere, but it's brewed in PA so you should be able to find it.

Both Zorra and Rancid have beaten me to the punch here. Jim Boags Premium is the best, closely followed by Cascade. Rancid neglected to mention Cooper's Stout, the only dark other than Guinness worth considering. Special mention to the Grand Ridge Brewery's Gippsland Gold. All are awesome beer for summer drinkin'.

Grand Ridge Brewery's supershine looks insane! I've never tried one of their beers but I intend to ASAP. Haven't tried coopers stout, but i know we've got like 2 or 3 types of it, like coopers best extra stout, coopers regular stout and something else.

What about James Squire's? They are ok in my book. But I must say I prefer boags varieties of various beers to pretty much anything, but sometimes you just get a craving for coopers sparkling (y) :)

Anyway I still stick to Guinness as far as stout goes because of my Irish roots (thats my excuse anyway :p). I've had a few interesting beers lately. One was a microbrewed pale ale with like a fish on the bottle I can't remember the name but it was very good, and another was this beer called Heidi which is like an Altbier it was kinda meh.

The Coopers Best Extra is the one I was talking about. Good for making Black and Tans. James Squire's is good, but I feel like I'm pissing my money up against a wall when I get it. Coopers Pale Ale is on tap at the uni bar so thats what I get there. I used to drink heaps of their Sparkling Ale but got kind a sick of it after a while. I had some the other night, though and it was tops. Guinness is the only non-Aussie beer I get really, most everything else tastes weak. To me, at least.

Get some Gippsland Gold, it'll do ya the world of good

Was it Dogfish head?
They have a nice "aprihop" beer that I tried at a beer festival a month or so ago. It was good enough to buy when it was later sighted at a store down the street. I think they are from Deleware or something like that. Their 90 minute IPA is pretty good too.

But I'd have to say the best beer is Old Dominion's Oak Barrell Stout. I love Guiness...a lot, but the Oak Barrell Stout blows it away. It has a very very slight hint of a chocolate flavor that just makes everything oh so good. Even though that might not sound too appetizing.
If you like Stouts, you have to try it. Not now, but right now.

plenty of decent suggestions in this thread. it's best to just experiment with different brews whenever you go out, or are picking up. in canada we have the ability to mix a 6 of imports in talls or bottles. singles range from $1.80 for warsteiner or lowenbrau to $2.95 for leffe blonde & brun. i think you'll find you'll appreciate entire regions.

yuengling is a good local brew that runs pretty cheap for us here. that and rolling rock are always solid bets if your low on cash. and the occasional iron city, but that isnt as good as it used to be according to my grandmother

I've got about 14 beers in my fridge right now, all Corona, Corona lite, and Yuengling. I don't drink beer, but I had a BYOB BBQ a few weeks ago, and they're the remenants.

I also have Smirnoff Twisted Apple. (y)

Which reminds me, does anyone else find it screwed up that a friend said "she didn't like beer" so she brought over coke and vodka to my party when I specifically said time and again "NO HARD LIQUOR"? Just a wee bit disrespectful in my opinion, not to follow house rules. Yes, I don't think I'll invite her back.

It's never given me a headache. And no, it's not because I drink it at least once a week.
Probably due to the fact that as a Southern lass I grew up drinking sweet tea, so maybe all that sugar is why I'm used to it.

I don't know if they do this in other places, but my favorite liquor store here lets you build your own six pack. You can get any six bottles you want for about seven bucks. Maybe they have something similar so you can try a bunch at once. (y)

We have normal kokanee in the bottleshop i work in. Its damned expensive though, like 18 bucks (australian) a six pack and I'm pretty sure its not a super premium beer (you can get pilsner urquell for about 12 bucks a six pack or 40 bucks a slab here, same with becks, stella, corona (sometimes), carlsberg green etc)).
