I used to really like the daily show until I saw an episode that happened in their new studio. John stuart was talking to this guy who he called a biggot(i dont know the dudes name or care but, i know he wrote some book called the 100 people messing up america). Then John Stuart said he didnt care about what people in alabama thought. I guess people from alabama just arent good enough or smart enough for John Stuart. I had to go to school in alabama as a teenager and i think its really messed up there but i dont think that people need to automatically stereotype all people from alabama. north south east and west need to all come together and quit fighting.l The civilwar is over.

Silly generalisation but it was almost certainly said in jest.
Not sure if one politically incorrect joke is a reason to dislike a person.
You are free to do so of course :)

And as I was reading your post, I thought "Gee, I don't remember him calling anyone a bigot, or saying he didn't care what Alabama thought." So, I went and found the video, and I was right.
Go to Bernard Goldberg's interview, 2nd row, all the way on the right:
http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_daily_show/videos/celebrity_interviews/index.jhtml
He never once calls him a bigot, the person who keeps talking about bigotry is Goldberg himself. And he made a joke of saying "Come on, it's Alabama," to which Goldberg replies "Do you really want to lose Alabama?" To which he responds "It's Alabama. I don't think we had them anyways." MEANING the Daily Show is a pretty liberal-leaning comedy show, and Alabama is a complete red-state. He made the generalization that most of Alabama probably doesn't watch/like his show. He never said they weren't smart, or anything else you said. Watch it again.
