I am looking for an easy salmon recipe. Nothing fancy...something that I can come home from work and make and doesn't take a lot of prep time or fancy ingredients. Suggestions?

Pasta with salmon.

All you need is some errr... how do you call them... onions but not classic onions, the tiny ones with long stems, and some cooking cream.

Cook the pasta, in the meantime put a little pan on the fire with some oil, put the onions (not too many, just a bit to add to the taste but not enough to take over the taste) in there, have the fire low. When the pasta is nearly done turn it up a bit, add cut up salmon, let it heat up without cooking it too heavily.

Drain the pasta, add the salmon + onions to the pasta, add some cream.

The types of pasta that taste better with salmon are (in my opinion) tagliatelle and penne.

Oh... you did mean smoked salmon right? :o

One more thing, I always need about half an ounce more salmon than I actually need for the pasta because I eat it while cooking :D

Am I using it in place of olive oil? Or just for flavor?

Get this slices of smoked salmon. Get your favourite kind of cream cheese (ie. garden vegetable flavour).

Put a small amount of cream cheese on the salmon, top with some capers or olive slices (if you like capers or olive slices) and either roll salmon or place on cracker.

Enjoy

Then give it a try!!!

If you don't like having it on a cracker (which I don't either)....try what I do.

Salmon recipe as above, and place on a lightly heated pita open faced...

or my favourite....
Put on top of lightly toasted and butter brown sour dough bread.

mmmmm, getting hungry just thinking about it!

grapeseed oil is the best
even extra virgin olive oil tastes like im eating raw tanker oil now because I got so used to the grapeseed
It has a higher cooking temperature so it doesnt burn and it doesnt part as quickly when you use it in salad dressings

salmon with cream cheese action is great!

best salmon Ive ever had was in a greek place, and it was cooked with veggies and feta cheese inside phyllo pastry

My best appetizer is a thin toasted slice of french bread, then cream cheese, then lox, then a dollop of honey mixed with really good french mustard, then capers. So easy but they look cool and people go mental.

But if you have loser friends at your party they will wig out about the salmon being raw.

For baked salmon I usually buy the thing at Costco that comes with herb butter and just follow the directions. I can't cook.

Fresh salmon in the microwave is very easy - I make this a lot: I put a piece in a dish with some cut-up plum tomatoes, drizzle with oil and dill, cover with plastic wrap, then cook on high a couple minutes (until the middle is pink). The tomatoes help steam the salmon - yummy!

I didn't think you could actually 'cook' meat in a microwave. I thought you'd only heat up raw meat...

I think you essentially boil the salmon by heating up the water in and around it.

Take a stock pot-
put in some shaved fresh ginger
some lemon zest
some sake
and some water

put a steamer contraption in thur
and put a lightly salted salmon steak/filet in it
cover and steam it till it's done to your liking

the end

garnish with a splash of mirin and a sprinkle of chopped scallions

*Yes lox is the most heavenly thing on earth on a pumpernickle bagel with cream cheese, a slice of tomato and some capers* (y) (y) (y)
