when someone lies to you. And I don't mean that later you find out it's a lie, but you know RIGHT when they say it that it's a lie, even though they are unaware of the fact that you know the truth.

I wonder what compells the person to lie about it. Because really, the topic being lied about is not a super big deal. It could have been a big deal, years ago, but I knew how things were years ago so the other person just recognizing the fact those things happened wouldn't have made me mad, especially since I mentioned it. Yet, I was lied to about it.

This may seem to make no sense, but I'm curious. Why do you think people feel obligated to lie about things that aren't really important or no longer matter?

Norcen, when you read this post you could have just told me why you were lying in the first place.

I KNEW this was the only way to grab your attnetion about it. Hmph!

Some people just feel the need to lie even about trivial things.

It's quite distressing.

tell me about it.

Not that I am one to talk. I used to lie a lot about little things to people that were closest to me. Which I know, is awful, even if it was about something that wasn't a big deal. However, I learned the error of my ways.

Lying just sucks, period. Especially on the receiving end.

I pretty much decided I wasn't going to be able to trust a particular person in my life when she said:

"Oh, if my boyfriend asks, I picked you up at the airport. He asked me if I could drive him somewhere but I didn't feel like it."

She said worse stuff than this but it feels icky repeating the other bits.

I think some people lie about little things out of convenience....sometimes it's easier esp. if they know telling the truth will result in questions/more drama...like the girl not wanting to take her boyfriend to the airport....she doesn't really want to tell him that she doesn't feel like it...it may hurt his feelings or spawn a fight...so she lied.

memory is tricky, there's no way we can be sure what really happened, it's one person's memory against another's.

indeed.

Especially when things happen like Aimee descibred, "She lies so much she actually starts to believe her lies."

crazy stuff. I remember having someone lie to me about random little things for a 1+ year and found out about them months after we stopped seeing each other. He just loooooooved to lie.

I can never tell when people are lying. :( I’m too gullible.
Someone told me that if you say banana really slow it sounds like gullible....and I did it. :(

I'm actually an illegal immigrant. I have no children, a wife, 2 cars, a house, and a well paying job at Subway. And a trust fund.
