My worst concert was Olivia Newton John. She's not a band, but I still win, right?
Liz Phair sucked.
Tori Amos wasn't very good. I hate picking so many female artists. :(
Probably the worst band I saw live was Fleetwood Mac circa Mirage. Stevie changed her clothes about 6-8 times.

What was Yoko Ono like?

The Notorious LOL

Hey! Were they really that bad? I suppose. But it was Scribe's 12 minute intro that bugged me!

That reminds me that several bands at BDO Sydney were just dreadful.

Yeah they were bad...really bad. Scribe was pretty bad too, but only because of the intro. His rhymes are ok, if a bit repetitive. I much prefered money mark just playin freestyle/requests than either of the other two support acts.

Which BDO acts? That reminds me I really enjoyed The redsunband's performance at merideth festival, and they played at sydney bdo. You better not be talking about them *shakes fist*

millencolin

I am seeing them september 21 (y)

Nice, all my friends say that they are one of the best live acts they've seen. Plus they were cheapish, ie half the price of oasis and 1/3rd the price of nelly .

I assume all the BDO shows on the big stages had the same set up? Where if you were going to get good placement for a band, you had to stand next to the stage where another band was playing for a bit? I overheard a few really bad bands while standing in front of the stage next to it. I think that lame rock music is the same all over the world. The only name I remember is Powderfinger, because they were in between SOAD and Beasties. I thought they were thoroughly mediocre but a large portion of the crowd was singing along so I take it they're popular. But then you never get an accurate take on a band at a festival.

Nah the redsunband were on the local acts stage not the main stage.
Powderfinger are very bad. Like horrible. I dont think America even has an equivalent band that bad. The closest thing I can think of is Coldplay but they're british. Over here they are almost as popular as coldplay too.

I was in the mosh pit, for the atmosphere and because one of my mates loves slipknot. But that doesnt change the fact that they were just noise. And the fact that most of the dudes in the mosh pit were freaky looking fat hairy dudes with RIP Dimebag shirts on, and most of them were violent pricks. Altogether rather shite. (n)

yeah the sweaty fat shirtless dudes kinda sucked, but the atmosphere tho was nuts. i dont mind slipknot, but i gotta say it was one of the best acts of the day.

btw this BDO kicked the fuck out of any from the last 4 years

2001, 2002, 2004 were better in my opinion, if you took out the hives, soad, and the beastie boys from this year there would be absolutely nothing.

Whereas if you took 2004's top 3 out (metallica, muse, the dandy's) you'd still be left with the darkness, kings of leon, mars volta, the strokes, basement jaxx, africa bambaataa and magic dirt (y).

2002: Take out prodigy garbage and new order and you're still left with NOFX, Jurassic 5, soad, the white stripes, basement jaxx

2001: take out at the drive in, coldplay and limp bizkit and you still have placebo, queens of the stone age and rammstein

A festival is only as strong as its second tier acts.

Rancid_Beasties
08-07-2005, 08:04 AM
Good live Australian acts are plentiful, you just have to look past powderfinger, jet, vines, et al.

Hilltop hoods are surprisingly good, as are 1200 techniques, dallas crane, regurgitator, rocket science, living end, wolfmother, wolf and cub, bodyjar, frenzal rhomb, vasco era, the cops...I could go on but I've made my point

icy manipulator
08-07-2005, 08:18 AM
yeah fuck oath 1200 techniques are good live.

and you're right about if you removed certain acts this year it'd be kinda shit. i guess i just overlooked that fact coz the beasties headlined this year

but my theory is out of the 4 years i've been (02-05)

This year had the best headline, beasties, compared to prodigy, foo fighters and metallic

best headline boiler room act, chem brothers, compared to basement jaxx twice and underworld

best dj before headline in boiler room, carl cox, compared to dave clarke, kraftwerk and felix da house cat

and best middle of the day mainstage possibility of being killed act, slipknot, compared to SOAD, Deftones and Muse

so yeah, that's pretty much why i thought this year's was the best i'e been too.

That and i hung out with a really hot chick for most of the day (y) ;)

best, pretty much in this order:

Massive Attack, Provinssirock 2003
QOTSA, same as above, same festival
Monster Magnet on "dopes to infinity"-tour, Finland 1996
Guitar Wolf, Berlin last year
Jello Biafra with Melvins, Berlin a couple of months ago
Nirvana has to be mentioned cause they nearly blew my eardrums beyond repair, 1991
Money Mark, 1999 (maybe 2000, fuck if I remember that far)
Stereo Total, 1997

worst... hmm, I don't really wanna remember the worst. let's just say NORMALLY even good bands suck at festivals. Massive Attack was a total exception to this rule, in a midsummer night in Finland, with their visuals and sounds made in heaven. I could watch that shit for the rest of my life if the dope and beer would just keep on rolling in.

Cosmo. Always spreading the knowledge. :)

Alruggs saw Bowling for Soup! :D I saw Richard Thompson doing 1985 on his last tour. He was doing a history of 1000 years of music and ended with the song that was the most downloaded on itunes that week. Hilarious!

P.S. I do not have an ass fixation. Thanks.

Documad does indeed have an ass fixation. Bootyphilia is a serious condition, and she is in denial.
