I want to install windows 98 on a computer with a USB CD-ROM drive.
so I've got the bootdisk and I've got the USB drivers
I'm using method 1 as described here: http://www.bootdisk.com/usb.htm
the system recognises the USB CD and dumps me into command prompt but the keyboard isnt working.
the keyboard works with a plain unmodified bootdisk so I know it works, but of course this doesnt recognise the USB CD-ROM.
you see my dilemma.
how can I solve it?
maybe put some stuff in autoexec.bat to copy the files (from CD to c:) automatically? but how?

yes its a USB keyboard. and it works when I use a plain bootdisk, just not when I load the USB drivers to get to my USB CD-ROM.

It should be something like "enable legacy support for usb keyboards/devices".

I got into bios but there was nothing about USB support in there.
WAIT, there was. I had to press another key to unlock advanced functions.
and USB legacy support was already enabled.

just as stable as XP, if not more. and I only have 56MB ram. nothing wrong with windows 98.

It's nowhere near as stable as xp but with that amount of memory it's pretty much your only choice unless you have the patience to use it with windows 2000. (sloooow... but rock stable)
