seriously, I need to stop getting ailments.
For three weeks, upper respiratory infection. I had a week of sound health. Now, apparently I may have pink-eye and need to go see the Doc today.
BAH! On mid-terms week, no less. GRRR.

thanks. :)
I think I may start taking herbal medicine to help boost my immune system. I think a lot of this has to do with when I was taking prednizone every other month, and would take them for almost a months time total. I think I took it maybe 7 months worth within a year and a half or so.
I just needed to bitch somewhere because the missing work and school thing is getting old.

ee predizone did a number on steger. his immune system is overactive, though, so he very rarely gets sick.
the thing about herbal medicines is that you can't take them for an extended period of time. if you feel that you are exposed to something, are catching something, or already have something, then jump on that shit. otherwise, wait for it. but what you can take daily are:
-Vitamin C (at least 500 mg. i take 1000 mg daily and i prefer the Ester-C because it's non-acidic)
-garlic (they all say odor-free but none of them really are)
-mushroom extract (miatake and shiitake are both great. if you consistently get respiratory and lung problems, which is what it sounds like, go with Cordyceps. it's a mushroom that helps with the lungs. Chinese athletes take it to increase their endurance.
-zinc (but don't overdo it. if you take too much zinc, it depletes your copper levels and vice-versa. the best thing to do is to take a liquid, trace mineral complex so that you get all your minerals.)
another thing you can do is try and keep your body as alkaline as possible. it's really difficult in our environment today, mostly because of our diets, but it's how we were meant to function. most of us are far too acidic, and it leads to tons of health problems. cut back on meats and increase the dark, leafy greens. radishes are great for it too. if you want, you can take a green supplement (such as wheatgrass) - powdered drinks are great, mixed with either fruit or water, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
probiotics can also be really beneficial. about 5 billion live cells daily should do it. again, empty stomach. they're the bacteria found in yogurt, and they help balance out the bacteria in the body. think of it as the force. yeast is the darth vader, and all the other nasty bacteria on the dark side of the force should comprise about 30% of the organisms in you...and the good bacteria, the light side of the force, should be about 70%. lactobacilli - mace windu. bifidum - yoda. acidophilus - obi-wan. you get the picture ;) anyway, they're live bacteria in capsules that need to be refrigerated. you can get shelf-stable ones but they're always less potent. good for travel, though. eating more yogurt will help but there's about 100 times more bacteria in one capsue than in one serving of yogurt.
hope that helps some! and i hope you stop getting sick so often. i know it's rough on you :(

pink eye is easy. just a few drops and a lot of warm water eye washing.
if you have chronic conjunctivitis, get checked for herpes.
cosmo105
08-09-2005, 12:01 PM
oh, and for pink eye, you can wash it with colloidal silver, a natural antibiotic.
oil of oregano is another natural antibiotic - a very potent one, at that. the standardized extract has been compared to the antibiotic used to fight anthrax.
don't drop that one on your eye, though. heh. that would sting like hell. it tastes awful too. burns your throat. but man, does it work. as with any antibiotics, don't take that one for more than a week to ten days.

haha, I read everything then I saw "herpes"
:D
thanks cos. I really need to figure out what is going on with my retarded lump of meat and bones. I appreciate all input.
I was tested for everything under the sun not that long ago as far as STD's are concerned. I am as clean as a whistle. I think it's a good idea to test at least once a year though regardless of if you changed partners or not, etc.

i know. i do the std check all the time. but when i worked at the eye docs, saw eye herpes. and one of the first signs was chronic pink eye...like.. once every couple of months. if you start treating it then, it doesnt get bad.
bad eye herpes is GROSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
but im not trying to freak you out. i promise! feel betta (y)

I got pink eye after working in a warehouse and getting dust in my eye. Now I get pink eye almost every 2 months, especially when I haven't had much sleep.
The blowjobs don't help of course.

That's terrible! Maybe drink some green tea--2-3 cups a day.
Get the decaffeinated stuff.
And maybe try an anti-oxidant type of vitamin.
NatureMade (I think that's the brand
name) makes a very nice one.
My grandfather lived to be in his mid-90s and
was lanky and active all the way til the end. He
swore by this: whenever he felt a cold coming on,
he went into the steam rooms at the park and
sat there for maybe 20-30 minutes. If you
can, maybe find a steam bath (or make your own
if you have enough hot water) and try to sweat
yourself for at least 10-15 minutes. Good luck.
Take care of yourself!

Astragalus is the most gangsta herbal medicine.
My cousin was sick with mono (which is a cousin of herpes to stick with the subject) for 8 months, couldnt do shit for it, took astragalus at the recommendation of a naturopath and was better in 2 weeks.
I take like 4 of them a day if Im getting sick and I feel better the next day. Good way to avoid colds and flu, too. It boosts interferon (white blood cells) so often times its a supplement recommended to cancer patients.

shits like $8 at GNC. Go buy a bottle, take 2-4 a day for a couple weeks, and thank me later.

I shall :D
p.s. the Doc thinks all that is happening in allergy induced. I am seeing a specialist soon, I hope. Stupid allergies. I'll kick them in the face.

my sisters got awful allgeries. She did the shots to build immunity or whatever for a year, didnt do a damn thing. She just pets cats and sneezes and lives with it now.
if theres a good one near you, opt for TCM or a naturopath. Its really impressive how much sense a lot of the unorthodox practices make.

that sucks. I know what you mean. Although I'm grateful because I didn't miss many classes the last time I was sick... being sick on the weekend is no fun at all. Today I have missed work and one class, an that class I know is going to put me way freagin behind. I am going to go to my night class anyways tonight due to an exam I am pretty sure I cannot make-up.
Hopefully the remedies that were recommended to me will work out better than all the medications docs like to pump me with.

^ good luck, hope you feel better. I'm supposed to drive up to Belgium tomorrow on a beer run but my stupid car needs to do into the shop first. Of course this all depends on me getting out of bed at a reasonable hour
