NEW YORK, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- VH1 pays homage to the hip hop pioneers
who transformed the genre into a true cultural phenomenon with the second
annual "VH1 Hip Hop Honors." Hosted by Russell Simmons and Reverend Run, this
year's celebration will honor LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Grandmaster Flash and
The Furious Five, Notorious B.I.G., Ice T, Salt -N- Pepa, and the film Boyz N
The Hood.
Premiering on VH1 Monday September 26 at 9PM*, "VH1 Hip Hop Honors," which
will be taped at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, will include
performances by Kanye West, Eve, Nelly, Common, Jazzy Jeff, Snoop Dogg and
Missy Elliott. Additional performers, presenters, and special guests will be

Should just be LL, Big Daddy and Grandmaster Flash.

I find it odd that Run didn't appear last year when Run DMC was honored, yet he has a new album coming out, so he's co-host this year.

DMC shows up everywhere on VH1. I Love the (insert decade/'strikes back' if necessary), 40 Least Hip Hop Moments, And You Don't Stop. It's crazy.

There's a lot of other artists that have done more for hip hop than Ice T. I'd like to see Slick Rick honored myself.

I was thinking more of De La, N.W.A., Slick Rick, Doug Fresh, Biz Mark, Funky Four Plus 1, Afrikaa Bambattaa, Kurtis Blow, Eric B. and Rakim, Native Tongue, Ultramagnetic MC's and so on.

Dumbass.

Of course there are dozens of artists who should be honoured at an event like this one. LL, Kane, and GMF deserve it as much as anyone else from the era. Hopefully others like EPMD, Biz Markie, Eric B. & Rakim, Ultramagnetic MC's, and so on will be honoured another year.

Reverand Run seems to trying to erase any notion of affection with his appalling Liberty X collaboration... (n)

Big Daddy should be honored, I agree.

I just have no respect for Ice-T. What he did was pretty much take 'Fuck Tha Police' and transform it to 'Kill Tha Police,' and laced a weak track to go with it.
