Even fans are taking the ball away from the Packers this year.
The NFL & ABC are going to be kicking themselves in three weeks when they broadcast Vikings vs. Packers in the 'Shit Bowl'.

They could have had a battle of division leaders, and a preview of the NFC Championship, Panthers vs. Bears.

I have to keep in mind that Eli Manning is only in his second year to keep me from pulling my hair out and from realizing that he has to be the most inaccurate prospect ever. I have to keep in mind that this defense has gone 3 games without giving up a touchdown to keep me from realizing that they really arent that good. good defensive ends, one decent linebacker(pierce), one overacheiving linebacker(griesen) doesnt make you as good as the numbers would like you to believe. playing teams with back up QBs and offenses similar to pop warner little league teams makes you as good as the numbers would lead to. i'll reluctantly give the special teams a pass since they've been consistently great throughout the season except for today.

attention Giants: playing good defense against wack teams then showing what your defense is really made of in the final minutes when it counts(see vs. Cowboys, vs. Vikings) makes it easy to see that you're not there yet.

I was expecting the bye week to be the usual meltdown point for the Giants but i'm seeing that it has come later in the season this year for the jints. Have fun against teams that dont have washed up or backup quarterbacks starting.

EAGLES. - Mcnabb. unless he's still hurting, this will be a tough one to win.

at Seahawks - We all know how great Eli plays on the road

COWBOYS - Decent QB, good receivers against the giants awful secondary

Eagles.

CHIEFS - road game, offensive weapons all over the field for the chiefs

Redskins - Hopefully they've given up on their season by the time this game comes around

Raiders - again good receivers get hard ons when they see the giants secondary.

I expect myself to calm down by monday and take back everything I've said.

Well, what a surprise. The Stillers finally regain first place in the division over the Bungholes. I'm happy it was a nationally televised game, so you all could witness how infinitely awesome Hines Ward is. Yeah, Batch broke his hand, so we need to resort to Maddox again. But, thank god we aren't a morally challenged team, like the Eagles, and take care of Ben's problem immediately instead of having our star QB play through pain from a hernia an entire season. Better lube up, Indy, cuz you're fucked.

I understand that the Bears aren't the one's making the schedule, but have you looked at the teams they have beat this year?

Detroit? San Fran? New Orleans? Minny?

And with the exception of one Detroit Game, and the Minny game, their victories have been by 10 points or less.

Don't make them out to be the Colts of the NFC. They're playing a last place schedule, and are in the weakest division this season. A team like Indy or Pittsburgh, or even The NY Giants would probably be at least 7-2 or better.

BUT, all those things I mentioned... a good team takes advantage of all of those factors. Go I give them props there.

Doesn't this team kinda remind you of the 2001 Bears team? Dominating a last place schedule, Relying mainly on defense (8 games holding the opponent under 14 points), and riding high, only to chrash in the playoffs against the Eagles.

I know the Bears aren't the Colts of the NFC. I think Carolina is the best team in the NFC. They'll start to get the respect they deserve after this week. That 2001 team was smoke & mirrors, they didn't have the speed on defense they have now. This team runs the ball much better too. I was at that game & it was terrible, the Eagles fans blowing their little green horns, jerks.

They'll win a play-off game this year, maybe two.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Not so fast
We’re stuck with the Chicago Bears. At least until the first round of the NFC playoffs.

Then, in all likelihood, they’ll be gone. A better team, from the better NFC East or South, will tear into Chicago in January in the opening weekend of the postseason. Then, the NFC North will, once again, take its seat in the land of the discarded. Where it belongs.

The Bears may be a respectable 6-3. But, really, is there anything respectable about the NFC North? The Bears are just the best of the worst division in football wrapped up in a gaudy record, sponsored by a string of cupcake opponents.

The Bears journeyed out of the North last week with a home game against San Francisco and barely won. The Bears, which have played seven games against teams with losing records, are going to have to improve in the stretch, beginning with a home date against Carolina on Sunday. Dates at Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh with a home game against Atlanta are mixed in with the Minnesotas and Green Bays. So this team has a chance to be knocked down to Earth a bit even before the playoffs start.

The NFC North is lower than Earth. But the Bears rule it.

This is not a 6-3 team. This a team with a solid defense, a growing nucleus and a decent rookie quarterback in Kyle Orton working under a coach, Lovie Smith, finding his way. It’s a team that may be on the rise. It is not a division champion. But, then again, the NFC North is not a real division.

So the Bears are going to glide into the playoffs — unless you think the Vikings are going to power their way to the top with their no offensive-touchdown system? We’re stuck with the Bears as a playoff team. It may be for just a week, but we’re stuck.

People who write columns are never wrong. (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-bears05preview&prov=yhoo&type=lgns)

PREDICTION
The Bears will finish 6-10 and fourth in the NFC North

People who only watch highlights shouldn't write columns. Yes the win (5th in a row) against the 49er's was ugly, but that 50 mph wind may have had something to do with it. The NFC North is a bad division, but the AFC East is worse. You have the Ticket, don't waste time Sunday watching the Jags run past 'Pacman' Jones, spend some time watching the best defense in the NFL.

the big matchup to watch in the Indy/Pittsburg tilt will be the Colts D-line vs. the Steelers O-line. What troubles me, as a Colts fan, is Indy's inablility to get to the qb the last few games. They'll have to get to Big Ben. They also can't allow gouging runs over over 8-10 yards.

It'd also be nice for the Colts offense to have some longer, more sustained drives instead of the quick strikes they put up against the Bengals. I like that the game is in Indy. The field turf gives Indy a small advantage in terms of team speed and of course the home crowd will help. Peyton finds a way in a close one.

hey, man...i've always admitted my team sucked this year...
so i have all the room in the world to talk.

you on the other hand, have talked more shit than skinny about your team....
and now, you are gonna hide behind Maddox starting? come on...
the hallmark of championship teams is DEPTH. If your team hinges that much on ONE player, that's all on your steelers, man.
particularly taking into account that the steelers are primarily a RUNNING team that is loaded at RB (with or without injuries), where the QB only throws about 15-20 times a game MAX.
your team is BUILT to overcome the temporary loss of a starting QB.

top all of that off with the fact that you lost to the fucking shitty RAVENS...
whom even MY SHITTY TITANS could handle this year (chew on that, bitch).

The Steelers are "hinged" on one player? Where the fuck have you been? How many Pro Bowlers did they have last year? How many are they gonna have this year? Believe me, I'm not putting ALL the blame on Maddox. The loss to the Jags, yes. This one, no. We had, probably the best O lineman on the team out with an injury and two others that are pretty banged up. I'm sayin' if Ben or Randle El were behind center, it would have been a blowout. They move well in the pocket. Maddox shits his pants if a defender comes within 5 yards of him. It went to overtime and the Steelers didn't do anything until the fourth quarter. So believe whatever you want, cuz apparently you're the expert on a team you don't even follow. JAG OFF.

And, it's kinda hard to run the ball as much when the other team keeps 8 or 9 in the box pretty much every play. But I'm sure you knew that, John Clayton.

I'm sayin' if Ben or Randle El were behind center, it would have been a blowout. They move well in the pocket. Maddox shits his pants if a defender comes within 5 yards of him.
but shit, man...
you seem to be forgetting that fact that Maddox isn't just some second rate back up rookie...
dude, he was YOUR FUCKIN STARTER NOT 2 YEARS AGO!! and when he was starting (particularly at the beginning), people were acting like he was the second coming of fuckin jesus. remember all those articles and segements about his rags-to-starter story and all that.
you people had Maddox signs all over the fuckin stadium.
and now, 1.5 years after Ben replaced him when he got injured...you have relegated him to scapegoat status...now he's the BLAIM for your teams loss.
uh huh. yeah.

shit dude, i come from a family of Steelers fans...die hard steeler fans. our family has roots from Penn...i grew up hearing all about the fuckin steelers every fuckin year. i'm no noob.

admit it, your team just flubbed it.
and you offense is not nearly as dependable as you think it is....with or without Ben.

And, it's kinda hard to run the ball as much when the other team keeps 8 or 9 in the box pretty much every play. that's why you throw the ball to heinz...fuck man, wasn't Ed Reed and J.Lewis still out?
if Mcnair could pick them apart with a bunch of rookie recievers when they HAD those 2 roaming around out there...maddox should have been able to do it without them starting...

But I'm sure you knew that, John Clayton. you leave John Clayton out of this! do you hear me?!?!

I'm stating the obvious, man. Did they or did they not lose twice with Maddox at QB???? What happened when they gave Batch the nod?? Exactly. You call it backpeddling? Fuck off, man. I'm relegating blame throughout the offense, the O line mostly. 90 percent of the fuckers here still want Maddox's head on a platter from the Jags game. He can't do it anymore. Ever since he took that hit two seasons ago, he hasn't been the same player. Maybe over the past couple years, Tennessee has become comfortable with losing. Not here. If someone fucks up, they hear about it. Just like Ben did after the playoffs last season. It's not just Maddox. We'd do it to anyone. It just so happens that Tommy is the easy target right now.

okay...
this is why i hate the fuckin 2005 Bears...

they are a mirror image of the 2000 Ravens.

i hated the 2000 Ravens (i hate the Ravens, period.)

the 2005 Bears couple a pathetic, sometimes mildly efficient offense, with a very good defense.
note that i said very good, no great....

see, just like the 2000 Ravens...the 2005 Bears are the beneficiaries of a very weak schedule....
they play mostly shit teams....and can easily dominate them with thier very good defense.
yeah, sure....they can and have beaten very good teams this year...
but the key for the Bears is that THEY DON'T HAVE TO DO IT CONSISTANTLY....
i would have far more respect for them and thier defense if they had to play a schedule comparable to, say, what the Chargers have this year....

it's just bullshit....the 2005 Bears (like thier cinderella team of a few years ago), like the 2000 Ravens, get to ride a very soft schedule and a VERY soft division to the playoffs...with a defense that only has to step up a few games during the season.....unlike teams that have hellish schedules and still find a way to win week in, week out (Colts, Chargers...)
and STILL, the 2005 Bears (like the 2000 Ravens) get accolades as the BEST defense, blah blah....

it's bullshit.

thier defense is very good, not great.
thier offense is shit.

thier constitution has yet to be, nor will it be tested this year....thanks to the bullshit schedule and bullshit division.

fuck the bears.

Another week, another win for The Mighty Bear. It's a shame the Giants didn't pull out that win, My Bears would be the 1 seed in the NFC. If you missed the Bear game you missed the most dominant performance I have seen since Ray Lewis was possessed in 2000. Alex Brown had:

7 hurries
2 sacks
1 forced fumble
3 tackles
4 deflections
1 pass defense
and a partridge in a pair tree

This week will conclude Brett Favre's consecutive starts streak. He might not make it through the 1st half.

true, thier offense is pathetic...and that will be thier undoing...

but i never stated that you needed a hot shot offense to win games, foresaking the defense...
i stated that i just don't think the Bears defense (while very good) is as great as people would like to believe.
that defense would not look so spectacular if it had to play a big boy schedule like the Chargers or Patriots or Colts.

just like the Ravens 2000 defense wouldn't have drawn nearly the accolades it did, had THEY played a big boy schedule.

look at the schedules of these three teams in thier respected years...

Watching terrible Titan football has obviously retarded any cogent thought you may have on this NFL season. Big boy schedule? The Panthers averaged 30 points per prior to the mauling they took at the hands of My Bears. They were lucky to squeeze out 3. Tampa scored 76 points in their previous 2 games yet they could only muster 10 yesterday at home.

Did you read your overfed friend Bill Williamson's latest column? All of a sudden he's looking for a seat on the wagon. If you don't think that a team that sets, or is on pace to set the record for points allowed be it the 00' Ravens, or these Bears is a great defense, than you really are as foolish as your preseason predictions.

I know you like to stick to your guns, but it's over. You, like all of the 'experts' were wrong. The Bears are a good team because of their GREAT defense. Accept it, it's over.

They should beat Philly, Washington, and Oakland, but all 3 are on the road, and KC is going to be tough even though it's a home game.

Big odds against perfect season. As soon as the Colts look up home field advantage, we'll all get to see the quality play of the Colt's backups. I say the Colts lose the last game of the seaon.

How many passing yards to Orton have yesterday? Good thing they have a strong defense. Of course, they have to beat a team with a winning record once in the playoffs.

What happened to the Steelers? Cincy took it to them yesterday after the Colts embarassed them the week before. Cowher might burst a blood vessel.

The Titans?!

The Niners are back in the Reggie Bush bowl. They play the Texans on New Year's day and if Smith keeps taking the hits he did yesterday, Cody Pickett will be quarterback again in no time.

But they were quality yards. 0 - 10 on 3rd down. He has looked terrible for the last few games.

They beat the piss out of Carolina before, and they will do it again in the play-offs.

oh my fuckin awesome Titans...

i guess the only cool thing about being 3-9 and having so many holes to fill, is that it makes the Draft truly exciting...

i have no idea who we will try and grab in April...if we have one of the top 3 picks...
do we grab Bush, even though we have Chris Brown and Henry?

go for Leinhart? even if Mcnair doesn't retire?

grab D-Brickshaw for our aging Oline, then grab Jay Cutler in the 2nd?
AJ Hawk?

i dunno, but that's kind of exciting...
It would be kinda cool seeing Leinhart or Bush with Titans helmet on....

Mrs. Skinny is as loopy as you are! Your Bears are fucked if they play the Colts at any time this year. Manning will make their D cry in agony as he launches the ball to any of the Colt's offensive weapons he has at his disposal. Nobody can stop the offensive Juggernaut that is the Colts. Before the season started, you all know I was looking at the Giants as a 8 or 9 win team, so to go 11-5 and win the division was quite a suprise to me. The fact that I was sitting in the stadium during the playoffs this season was a bonus.

The injuries to the linbackers was what killed them for the most part. Considering 2 of the three starting LBs weren't even on the team 3 weeks ago.

At least they were nice enough not to toy with my emotions by keeping it close, or even leading in the game at any point. It was just one swift kick in the nuts, and then they walked away.

How does that even make sense?

steelers 24-17
Is that all you got, Ben?

Stittsburgh can't deal with the offensive Juggernaut of the Colts, but they can make him discover the taste of turf.

Ol' Ben will have his femur snapped in 2 places and carried out on a stretcher before the end of the game.

35-14 Colts.

I have the Colts winning Sunday. I'll put the Colt avatar up if by some unforeseen act of craziness The Bears lose. But if they win, you would be rocking the Navy & Orange my friend.

?
I'm confident enough the Colts move on.

Deal.

Our bet would have nothing to do with the Colts vs. Steelers game. Bears win you have Bear avatar, Bears lose I have Colt avatar.

In two places? I don't know how dirty things are in the CFL, but down here, nobody can fuck with Ben. Expect more trickery from Cowher.

what i liked about that trick play is that randle el ocule have run it, or on the ross back to ben, if the db's don't bit on their coverage, he could take off. so there is no real way to stop that play for at least a decent gain. if they execute, its golden

After the TB-WAS game, Steve Young and Michael Irvin were decrying the lack of offense and Young said if WAS did that again next week he'd turn off the TV. Two of the better offensive stars of all time don't like defensive battles.

What was the common thread this weekend? Defense wins football games.

It seems like the good old flea flicker always works, I don't know why coaches don't use it more often.

What's wrong with the flea-flicker? You knew that was going to be a TD before Roethlishamburger even got the ball back.

I hope the Titans pick Vince Young.

i don't know....

first off, we may trade down to get more picks...we have so many fuckin holes...and McNair is still gonna play, and volek could still be a back up...

plus Cutler will be available later in the draft...

if we DO pick #3....it's between Lienart and Young (with an outside shot at D'Brick)...
Lienhert KNOWS Chows system (Chow built Matt), and would be ready to play in a year, if not immediantly.

Young has more natural talent...but is ALOT rougher around the edges...he would need at least 2 years to sit, under McNair...

i think we we would get a great QB either way....

and i think swinging down to pick up Cutler would make for a great future QB as well.

Hey Q,

I saw this on the brushback.com, and thought you should know:

"Vince Young Looking Forward to Mentoring Steve McNair"

what's brushback.com?

and did you mean Steve McNair looking forward to mentoring Vince Young?
or was that a subtle jibe at Steve?

All I know is I am the happyiest person on earth right now.....I swear I lost 10 years off my life in that game. I went form jumping around to laying on the ground (almost) crying, to jumping around thanking god all within a span of a minute or two.

What a fucking fixed game. Jesus christ, ive never seen such a blatent attempt to fix a game in my life. I guess destiny is on our side. and Big Ben saved our entire season with that tackle, He is my hero now.
now on to denver (which should be another hard ass game).

I live a few blocks from heinz field. After the game it was great to see people driving around while waving the 'terrible towel' outside of their windows.

If i see another stupid fan wearing one of those generic black and white jerseys (the ones with the black names and numbers) im gonna go up to them and rip it off of them. They may as well wear a freakin pink jersey

what the fuck happened to Manning?...AGAIN?!?!

why does the Colts offense always shit the bed in the playoffs? and if it's really so simple to just pressure Manning with alternating disguised blitzes/heavy coverage....then why don't teams do that all year?

and the Bears? giving up 30 points? against Delhome and the Panthers?

the playoffs always show you who's the real champions, and who are just smoke n mirror pretenders....

Bears/Colts= pretenders.

i don't think it's that easy...

most of the time he can call an audible and get the team to change their own plays and get them confused. but they should have known the steelers would send the dogs

it was so maddening to see...
just like the san diego game..

i mean, how many times does manning have to get sacked/pressured before they smarten up and go to max protect (extra tight end to block)?

all manning needs is time, and he will pick 99% of defenses apart....that last sack on 4th and 17...unexcusable.....YOU KNEW they were gonna blitz...MAX PROTECT!!!

Except for the Broncos, the better teams won this weekend. My Bears aren't going anywhere anytime soon with rookie play form the QB position. I have to partially blame Ashton Kutcher & Jim Belushi for that loss. If those are the best two celebrity fans you can dig up, you know you are in trouble. Steve Smith is an animal. I hope I get to see him line up against Superfly Snuka in the Superbowl.

Go Steelers.
