photos: zurich street parade

In the starkest contrast to the events of the day
and the entire week with the Dalai Lama, I came
back from the alps today to the start of the
Street Parade. It's a huge (1 million people)
techno parade that winds right through my area of town
and past my hotel.

I got moshed getting from the train station to my room today.
It was not completely unpleasant.

The people are really great, though.

I've taken dozens of pictures of the more colorful
ones--most of them pulled me in afterwards and
danced and did things up against and all around me. (!)

It is most bizarre and loud.
I have never said anything so understated in my life.

The music is HUGE.

I'll be going out in a few more minutes to get
some more photos now that my camera's batteries
are recharged and the naked people have come
out.

I don't know WHERE these people came from There are
a million of them if not more.

It is crazy out there. I go up to them and mime if
I can take their photo and they pull me and and take
my photo with them. I have some really good shots.
I'll post the G-rated ones here. :o

They ones I met last night were very sweet.
I love that they're uninhibited and friendly.
They're all hams--they love to pose for a photo.
