Since buying the "real" stuff is so costly at starting prices such as 45 dinar ($150. u.s.), it's much easier just to brew my own shit if I want to get some drinkage goin on.
I first started using 100% natural store bought grape juice with no additives or preservatives. You can call it wine but it's not sophisticated enough to some people's standards, therefore, I just call it hooch.
Of course the main ingredients would be the grape (juice) but for the alcohol content, the true main thing is the sugar. The more you add, the stronger.
Anyhow, after about 2 years of mastering grape hooch, I've stepped up to what some would call "Apple Jack".
Currently I've got 3 gallons brewing and GOT HAM!!! that shit is smelling all kinds of potent just by smelling the air coming from the pressure release cap.

it's too easy and I do imagine when I get back stateside where the fruit is more plentiful, I'm going to go to apple orchards and pick the most aged apples from the ground and use those instead of store bought juice and apples.
I'm so used to this that I don't think I will be buying beer anymore because for one thing, this is a chance to get drunk from my creation which makes it much funner.
I first really got into home brewing while I was in the army and I bought a Mr. Beer kit which wasn't all that bad but I didn't like the fact that I was brewing someone else's flavors.

I wrote somewhere up thar... that I'm to damn independent to buy someone else's brew. I dont mind time and if you do it right, I.E. using two brewers, you dont have to wait at all.

hmmm. When I worked corrections, the bastards weren't as creative to make such. Also we'd have guards that frisked the inmates coming down the walk from the mess hall to see if they were concealing fruits so it was very rare that they'd get away with bringing it back to their dorms.
However when they did manage to bring fruits in the dorms, they'd put it in the toilets to ferment and try to be slick by putting an "out of order do not flush" sign over the toilet bowl. If I saw those signs, I call their bullshit by flushing the toilets.
Did your friend talk about the pruno or the effects? If it's safe enough then I might want to try it.

Ha. Dude, you can't be this desperate to save money. I think they used to get pretty sick from it.
Just make moonshine. That shit is obviously real real cheap to make.
And it'll put hair on your chest.
And back.
And forehead.

It's not really saving money, I can buy it at those prices. As a matter of fact, I'm sipping from a bottle of Bluebird in which I bought for 25 dinar. I'm just a little interested in something a little different. I don't think pruno sounds too good though (but would my wife think I'm more attractive if I had actual hair on my chest rather than two stray hairs on my left nipple?)..
