does anyone know about the beastie boys connection with the graffiti scene in nyc? i guess it's normal that they had some connection because rap and writing are the elements of hiphop, but i'd be interested to hear if they were more involved than just hangin out with writers or havin tags on their skateboards.
adrock says: 'when i wrote graffiti my name was slop' - it seems that he was an active writer. has anybody seen some of their pieces?
somebody told me that at least one of them was a writer, but i never read anything about that.

graffitti was a huge happening in nyc in the late 70's and early 80's. it was all over. if you didnt see graffitti growing up, you just didnt leave your house often.

You should read the interview/bio that beastiemania.com did with Cey Adams. He's been hanging with them for a long time and was in the graffiti scene too.

He was the one who did the "Beastie Boys" writing on the cover of Cooky Puss, wasn't he?
